Job Description:

As a Machine Operator at BW Papersystems, you will be responsible for operating saws, a brake press, overhead cranes, and various machine tools to produce parts according to specifications. You'll work from drawings and instructions to set up tools, speeds, and cuts based on material and finish requirements. This entry level role also covers inventory tracking, material handling, and measuring finished parts for accuracy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate saws for structural steel and a brake press for bending metal
  • Operate overhead cranes to move materials and parts
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, and grinders according to production specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, route sheets, and job orders to determine setups, tooling, and sequence of operations
  • Select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts based on material and finish requirements
  • Measure and verify parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Track inventory, label material, and handle receiving, routing, and storing of materials
  • Follow safety operating procedures throughout all projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read a tape measure
  • 1 year of machine operating experience preferred but not required
