Job Summary
Comfort Temp Company is seeking an experienced Lead Sheet Metal Fabricator to join our growing Orlando team. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily sheet metal fabrication operations, supporting production efficiency, and ensuring quality workmanship throughout the fabrication process.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with sheet metal shop machinery, duct fabrication, and Trimble plasma software, along with strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily sheet metal fabrication operations within the shop environment.
• Fabricate and assemble commercial ductwork systems to company and SMACNA standards.
• Operate fabrication equipment including coil lines, shears, brakes, Pittsburgh machines, snap lock machines, and TDC equipment.
• Utilize Trimble plasma software and related fabrication technology to support production workflows.
• Install TDC corners, DM frames, and complete drive turning operations.
• Perform duct lining operations and ensure all fabricated duct is properly cleaned and sealed.
• Cut and prepare miscellaneous metals as required for fabrication projects.
• Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout fabrication areas and workstations.
• Support production scheduling and help ensure fabrication deadlines are met.
• Train, mentor, and support fabrication team members while promoting teamwork and accountability.
• Enforce company safety standards and maintain a safe working environment at all times.
• Assist team members as needed and contribute to continuous operational improvement.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 7 years of sheet metal fabrication experience in a commercial or industrial environment.
• Strong experience operating sheet metal fabrication machinery and equipment.
• Experience using Trimble plasma software preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SMACNA standards and duct fabrication practices.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management experience preferred.
• Ability to read fabrication drawings and specifications.
• Clean background required.
• Must possess required hand tools including snips, tongs, hammer, tape measure, and battery-powered tools.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
