Position Overview:
Roof Experts, Inc. is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Sheet Metal Superintendent to lead our sheet metal department. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the fabrication, installation, and management of metal roofing systems and components. The Sheet Metal Superintendent will work closely with both the fabrication shop and installation crews to ensure quality, efficiency, and accuracy in all metal-related roofing projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of roofing-related metals, including coping, counterflashing, scuppers, downspouts, collector heads, and standing seam panels. Familiarity with architectural metals and ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels is a plus. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow and expand the department.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Metal Fabrication:
    • Measure, layout, and design custom metal components for roofing systems, including coping, counterflashing, scuppers, downspouts, collector heads, and more.
    • Oversee and manage all fabrication processes within the metal shop, ensuring accuracy and quality.
    • Operate and maintain fabrication equipment, including bending, cutting, and forming machines.
  1. Fabrication Shop Management:
    • Lead the daily operations of the sheet metal fabrication shop, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.
    • Maintain inventory of materials and tools, ensuring the shop is fully stocked with necessary supplies.
    • Ensure the safe operation of all equipment, enforcing safety protocols and training team members on proper use.
    • Supervise the fabrication team and provide guidance to ensure deadlines and project requirements are met.
  1. Installation Leadership:
    • Lead and supervise installation crews on job sites, ensuring the proper installation of all metal components.
    • Review project plans and specifications, providing direction to ensure accurate and efficient installation.
    • Collaborate with the project management team to coordinate scheduling and ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Address and resolve any on-site challenges, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.
  1. Roofing Metal Expertise:
    • Possess deep knowledge and expertise in roofing-related metals, including:
      • Coping, counterflashing, scuppers, downspouts, and collector heads
      • Standing seam panels, exposed fastener panels, and architectural metals
      • Understanding of ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels is a plus.
    • Ensure that all fabricated and installed materials meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  1. Department Growth & Development:
    • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to develop strategies for growing the sheet metal department.
    • Identify opportunities to expand services, improve processes, and increase efficiency.
    • Train and mentor team members to develop their skills and ensure the department operates at a high level of professionalism and expertise.
  1. Collaboration & Communication:
    • Collaborate with the project managers, estimators, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination on all projects.
    • Provide input on project estimates, material needs, and timelines.
    • Communicate regularly with customers and clients, ensuring a high level of satisfaction with work performed.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication and installation, specifically related to roofing systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of roofing metals including coping, counterflashing, scuppers, downspouts, collector heads, standing seam panels, and architectural metals.
  • Familiarity with ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience leading installation crews and managing a fabrication shop.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal tools, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues on-site and in the shop, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
