Job description

Proman Skilled Trades is actively seeking experienced Commercial HVAC Sheet Metal Mechanics/Helpers, focused on new construction and retrofit projects across commercial, industrial, and institutional job sites.

If you have hands-on experience with ductwork installation, layout, and field fabrication—or you’re a motivated helper looking to grow your career in the trades—we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities for Sheet Metal Mechanics

  • Install, assemble, and secure HVAC duct systems, including rectangular, spiral, and round duct
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
  • Perform layout, measurements, and job site coordination
  • Install VAV systems, dampers, diffusers, grilles, and registers
  • Handle hangers, supports, and seismic bracing installation
  • Perform field modifications and fabrication as needed
  • Ensure proper airflow alignment and sealing (SMACNA standards)
  • Coordinate with other trades (electrical, plumbing, piping) to avoid conflicts
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and OSHA regulations

For Sheet Metal Helpers

  • Assist mechanics with duct installation and material handling
  • Load/unload materials and maintain organized work areas
  • Measure, cut, and prep materials under supervision
  • Help install hangers, supports, insulation, and sealed connections
  • Use basic hand and power tools safely
  • Follow instructions from lead mechanics and supervisors
  • Maintain job site cleanliness and safe working conditions
