JOB SUMMARY

The Project Engineer manages the administrative and document control requirements of the project. A strong focus on submittals and RFIs is essential to this role. In the performance of these functions, the Project Engineer is responsible for the protection and promotion of the interests of Shaw in all matters.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in administrative and document control tasks, including:

Document Controls & Setup

  • Establish and maintain jobsite files, record drawings, and electronic document systems
  • Set up and manage Submittal Log, RFI Log, and LEED/green program documentation

Submittals

  • Prepare submittal schedule for PM and Superintendent approval
  • Receive, review, distribute, and log all submittals
  • Prepare weekly submittal status reports for OAC meetings

RFIs & Clarifications

  • Assist the Superintendent with the full RFI process
  • Receive, distribute, and record clarification documents (RFIs, ASIs, revised drawings)
  • Prepare weekly RFI status reports for OAC meetings

Change Orders & Financials

  • Assist PM with requesting, collecting, and reviewing subcontractor pricing on changes
  • Prepare subcontractor modifications for PM approval and signature
  • Assist PM with assembling Owner change orders
  • Assist PM with review of monthly job costs and correction of cost coding errors

Closeout & Turnover

  • Develop lists of turnover and closeout requirements by subcontract
  • Facilitate building turnover, punchlist tracking, and subcontract closeout
  • Collect and log all required closeout documents

General

  • Administer and document LEED or other green programs
  • Assist Superintendent with QA/QC documentation and weekend/vacation field coverage
  • Participate in company training programs
  • Assist with pre-construction, including estimating and quantification

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year college degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management required
  • Minimum 2 years of construction experience required
  • Hands-on experience with submittals and RFIs is essential to this role
  • Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam) preferred

COMPENSATION

  • Pay Type: Salary
  • Pay Range: $75,000 $85,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience
  • Bonus commensurate with individual performance, company performance, and experience
