Reports To: Director of Nursing (DON) but receives some direction from Registered Nurse (RN)

SUMMARY

Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) with nursing and non-nursing related duties in the surgery center as well as perform clerical and housekeeping functions where required.

Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors:

· Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities

· Meets attendance and tardiness expectations

· Is dependable; follows policies and procedures

· Maintains professionalism in interactions with patients and coworkers

· Performs quality work and consistently exhibits initiative

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the highest level of eye care, adhering to best practices in infection control and prevention as set forth in ASC policies and procedures to achieve quality outcomes that enhance the lives of our patients.
  • Assist the RN with preparing the patient for surgery.
  • Assist the RN with post-surgical care.
  • Restock all drawers, amenities, etc. Make ice packs as needed daily.
  • Maintain inventory for pre-op and PACU, medical supplies, linens and consumables.
  • Stock locker rooms, maintain par levels for scrubs, shoe covers and hat covers.
  • Stock and maintain par levels for all pre-op and PACU bay carts.
  • Maintain Sharp containers.
  • Assist in clerical duties (i.e. telephones, errands, photocopies, filing).
  • Clean and disinfect stretchers, including monthly terminal cleaning of all stretchers.
  • Perform daily and monthly housekeeping duties. Perform monthly inspection of pre-op and PACU equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
