The successful candidate:

  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents the care of medical/surgical oncology, ambulatory care and same day surgery patients.

  • Assists with special procedures.

  • Directs the care delivered by patient care technicians and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of procedures, treatments, equipment and the care of complex medical oncology patients.

  • Attend In-House Code Blue and Rapid Response Calls as required.

  • Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and notify physician.

  • Ability to read and operate cardiac monitor, recognize normal/abnormal rhythms/trends, and institute appropriate interventions within 6 months of hire.

  • Must be able to work 3 12's 7:00a-7:00p

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • 1 year of hospital experience

  • Graduate of NLNAC or CCNE school of Nursing

  • State of Illinois Registered Nurse License.

  • BLS certification upon hire and maintained in position.

  • ACLS certification upon hire or obtained within 90 days and maintained in position.

  • Oncology Certification through ONCC when eligible or 6 oncology CE every year (18 oncology CE total every 3 years) for the Oncology Commission Cancer cycle. Telemetry competency and Completion of Basic ECG course by end of orientation period. Must complete Caring for the Oncology Patient course by end of orientation period.

  • ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy or Chemotherapy Immunotherapy course obtained within 6 months of hire for experienced RN's and 12 months for New Grad RNs upon hire and maintained while in position.
