Position Summary
The Rec-Plex Sharks are seeking a dedicated
Assistant Swim Coach specializing in swimmers ages 10 and under to join our competitive coaching staff. This position focuses on developing young swimmers through instruction in proper stroke technique, fundamentals of racing, and positive team habits appropriate for their age and skill level.
The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach and Head Group Coach to support group practices, evaluate developing swimmers, and help create a positive and encouraging environment for athletes and their families. The preferred start date for this position is
April.

Key Responsibilities
โข Assist in the planning, instruction, and operation of the Rec-Plex Sharks USA Swim Team and instructional swimming programs
โข Provide age-appropriate coaching focused on stroke development, fundamentals, and racing skills for swimmers ages 10 and under
โข Assist with group practices, swimmer development, and skill progression
โข Foster positive relationships with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaching staff
โข Monitor activities in assigned practice areas to ensure safety and proper conduct
โข Maintain attendance records and assist with swimmer evaluations and group placement
โข Assist in developing practice schedules and workouts for swim team groups
โข Address and resolve questions or concerns from swimmers, parents, and residents in a professional manner
โข Support the coordination and operation of swim team activities and events
โข Maintain safe and organized conditions in aquatic program areas
โข Stay current with trends and best practices in aquatics and youth coaching
โข Attend team meetings and assist with program planning as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
- Assistant Coach
- High School graduate or GED equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be a current USA Certified Swimming Coach or Provisional Coach or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
Junior Coach:
- Must be 16 or 17 years of age and currently enrolled in high school.
- Must hold a current USA Swimming Junior Coach Membership or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Coaching and/or instructing youth swimming. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
- Previous competitive swimming experience at any level. Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the state of Missouri.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
