Job Description
Role Summary
The Sharepoint Engineer is responsible for designing, administering, governing, and improving the organization's SharePoint Online environment, with a secondary focus on Power Platform administration and low-code process automation. This role is supporting secure collaboration, content management, site architecture, permissions, governance, automation, and business enablement across Microsoft 365.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on SharePoint specialist who can translate business requirements into scalable site structures, improve information architecture, strengthen governance, troubleshoot complex collaboration issues, and partner with stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and user-friendly digital workplace solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, administer, and optimize SharePoint Online sites, hub sites, communication sites, team sites, libraries, lists, pages, web parts, navigation, metadata, content types, and site templates.
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint information architecture, including taxonomy, metadata standards, document management structures, searchability, ownership models, and lifecycle practices.
  • Manage SharePoint permissions, security groups, external sharing, sensitivity controls, access reviews, inheritance models, and secure collaboration standards.
  • Support SharePoint governance, including site provisioning standards, naming conventions, storage management, retention alignment, content ownership, archival processes, and compliance-focused administration.
  • Troubleshoot SharePoint access, sharing, sync, search, versioning, workflow, list threshold, library performance, page publishing, and permission inheritance issues.
  • Partner with business teams to gather requirements, recommend SharePoint solutions, improve collaboration processes, and deliver intuitive user experiences.
  • Create and maintain SharePoint documentation, support runbooks, governance guides, site owner training materials, and knowledge articles.
  • Administer Power Platform environments, connectors, Power Apps, and Power Automate flows that support SharePoint-based business processes.
  • Build, support, and troubleshoot Power Automate workflows connected to SharePoint lists, libraries, approvals, notifications, data collection, and process automation needs.
  • Review Power Platform solutions for security, supportability, data access, licensing impact, ownership, documentation, and operational readiness.
  • Use PowerShell, Microsoft Graph concepts, reporting, and administrative tools to support SharePoint operations, automate repeatable tasks, and analyze service health or usage trends.

Required Skills and Experience
  • 8+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, collaboration platform, or digital workplace administration experience in a mid-size to enterprise environment.
  • Strong SharePoint Online administration experience across sites, hub sites, libraries, lists, permissions, metadata, content types, pages, search, sharing, and governance.
  • Experience designing scalable SharePoint information architecture, document management solutions, lifecycle models, ownership structures, and content governance practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex SharePoint access, content, sync, search, performance, sharing, workflow, and user experience issues using admin portals, logs, reports, and Microsoft support tools.
  • Working knowledge of Power Platform administration, especially Power Automate and Power Apps solutions that integrate with SharePoint Online.
  • Understanding of Power Platform governance, connector usage, environment standards, DLP concepts, flow ownership, and operational support practices.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, SharePoint Online Management Shell, PnP PowerShell, Microsoft Graph concepts, CSV handling, reporting, and repeatable administration tasks.
  • Strong technical documentation, requirements gathering, stakeholder communication, customer service, escalation management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 collaboration governance, data protection, secure sharing, retention alignment, access control, and operational best practices.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with SharePoint hub architecture, site design, managed metadata, content types, search configuration, page design, multilingual sites, and large-scale content organization.
  • Experience modernizing legacy file shares, intranet content, forms, workflows, and business processes into SharePoint Online and Power Platform solutions.
  • Experience with Power Platform DLP policies, environment strategy, connector governance, solution ownership, flow monitoring, and lifecycle controls.
  • Strong familiarity with PnP PowerShell, SharePoint REST concepts, Microsoft Graph concepts, reporting, service health monitoring, audit logs, and operational dashboards.
  • Basic scripting or coding knowledge in JavaScript, JSON, PowerShell, or similar technologies for SharePoint customization, data transformation, reporting, and workflow support.
  • Experience working within ITIL-aligned incident, request, change, problem, knowledge, asset, and configuration management processes.
