Based in any U.S. office, the Application Development Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting the firm's enterprise business applications, including custom SharePoint solutions, intranet and portal sites, Power Apps applications, Power Automate workflows, integrations, reports, and supporting Microsoft 365 solutions. The Application Development Engineer executes assigned development work, supports business-critical products and platforms, and follows established technical standards, architecture patterns, and delivery practices under the guidance of senior engineers and architects.
Primary applications and platforms include:
  • Application Development: Microsoft .NET Framework and/or .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, PowerShell; JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, XML, XSL/XSLT
  • Microsoft 365 & SharePoint: SharePoint Online, SharePoint Server, Microsoft 365 development; SharePoint administration and configuration, forms, and custom solutions

  • Integration Technologies: REST APIs, Microsoft Graph API, web services, custom connectors, Boomi integration platform

Responsibilities include:
Application Development & Delivery
  • Execute assigned development work for enterprise applications, SharePoint solutions, Power Platform solutions, workflows, integrations, reports, and related business systems.
  • Support existing products and platforms by troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements, and maintaining reliable day-to-day operations.
  • Follow established architecture standards, development practices, governance requirements, security guidelines, and release management procedures.
  • Work with business stakeholders and senior technical team members to clarify requirements and translate them into working technical solutions.

SharePoint & Intranet Development
  • Design, develop, and support custom SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server solutions.
  • Create and maintain intranet sites, department portals, collaboration sites, and knowledge management solutions.
  • Develop SharePoint forms, components, workflows, lists, libraries, and integrations.
  • Support SharePoint governance, security, content management, and user adoption initiatives.
  • Configure and enhance modern SharePoint experiences and Microsoft 365 collaboration solutions.

Power Platform Development
  • Design and develop enterprise business solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies.
  • Build and maintain Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps using Power Apps.
  • Develop automated business processes using Power Automate cloud and desktop flows.
  • Create dashboards, reports, and analytics using Power BI, and design and support solutions utilizing Microsoft Dataverse.
  • Develop and maintain Power Pages solutions where appropriate, and implement AI Builder and emerging Microsoft AI capabilities to improve productivity and automation.
  • Implement Power Platform governance, monitoring, security, and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices.

Enterprise Systems Integration
  • Develop integrations between enterprise applications using REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, web services, and custom connectors.
  • Integrate Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure, SQL Server, Boomi, and third-party systems.
  • Support data migration, synchronization, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal developers, vendors, and architects to deliver enterprise integration solutions.

Database Development & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server database objects including stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, and custom queries.
  • Support reporting solutions utilizing SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
  • Assist with database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Support ETL and data integration processes utilizing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

Cloud Solutions & Architecture
  • Develop and support solutions utilizing Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Functions, Logic Apps, App Services, and API Management.
  • Participate in cloud modernization, migration, and architecture initiatives.
  • Ensure applications meet performance, reliability, scalability, and security requirements.

Standards, Documentation & Collaboration
  • Contribute to peer reviews, testing activities, deployment preparation, and operational readiness efforts.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, support notes, configuration details, and knowledge base articles.
  • Escalate risks, blockers, and architectural questions to senior engineers, architects, and management as appropriate.
  • Continuously build technical expertise across SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure, SQL Server, and Microsoft 365.

Qualifications:
  • Proficiency developing on the Microsoft stack, including .NET Framework and/or .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, and PowerShell.
  • Proficiency with web technologies, including JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, XML, and XSL/XSLT.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server solutions, including forms, components, administration, and configuration.
  • Working proficiency across Power Platform, including Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven), Power Automate, Power BI, Dataverse, Power Pages, and AI Builder.
  • Experience developing enterprise integrations using REST APIs, Microsoft Graph API, web services, and custom connectors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures, database design and optimization, SSIS, and SSRS.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure services (Azure Functions, Logic Apps, App Services, API Management) and DevOps tooling (Azure DevOps, Git, Team Foundation Server).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and documentation skills, with a strong customer service orientation and business acumen, and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience with the Boomi integration platform, including application integration, data synchronization, API connectivity, and cloud-to-on-premises integration scenarios, preferred.
  • Experience with K2 and/or Nintex workflow platforms preferred; experience with IntApp Intake is a plus.
  • Experience with Power Platform governance and Center of Excellence (CoE) frameworks preferred.
  • Experience with Copilot Studio and Microsoft AI technologies preferred.
  • Experience implementing Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices preferred.
  • Microsoft Power Platform and/or Microsoft Azure certifications preferred.

Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in application development, workflow development, systems integration, or programmer/analyst roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Demonstrated experience developing and supporting enterprise business applications delivered with SharePoint, Power Platform, Azure, SQL Server, and Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders to design and implement business solutions.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in a structured IT environment, including enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 implementations and application modernization or workflow automation efforts.
  • Experience supporting business-critical systems, ideally within legal, professional services, or other highly regulated environments.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual compensation range for this position is $140,000 - $170,000. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
