Job description

AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an experienced SharePoint Administrator to manage and maintain three on-premises SharePoint farms, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role will also lead the upgrade of our current SharePoint environments to the latest supported version of Microsoft SharePoint, including planning, execution, testing, and post-migration support. 

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in SharePoint architecture, farm administration, upgrades/migrations, and working closely with infrastructure and business teams.

As an AMERICAN SYSTEMS Lead SharePoint Administrator, you will:

  • Administer and support three SharePoint farms (development/test and production environments). 
  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity planning. 
  • Plan and execute upgrade projects to the latest version of SharePoint, including: 
  • Upgrade assessment and roadmap development 
  • Infrastructure planning and design 
  • Migration of content databases and service applications 
  • Testing, validation, and end-user support 
  • Manage patching, cumulative updates, and security configurations. 
  • Configure and maintain service applications (Search, Managed Metadata, User Profile, etc.). 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint-related issues across the environment. 
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies. 
  • Manage permissions, governance policies, and compliance requirements. 
  • Work with SQL DBAs to maintain SharePoint databases. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions. 
  • Document architecture, configurations, and operational procedures. 
  • Design, deploy, and manage virtualize infrastructure using VMware vSphere, including ESXI hosts and vCenter Server

  • U.S. Citizenship (Required)
  • Top Secret clearance w/SCI eligibility 
  • Bachelor's degree (additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • At least 8 years of hands-on SharePoint administration experience
  • DoD 8140 IAT II-level certification (e.g. Security+ CE, or equivalent) 
  • Proven experience managing multi-server SharePoint farms
  • Experience planning and executing SharePoint upgrades (e.g., 2016/2019 to Subscription Edition or later)
  • Strong understanding of: 
    • Windows Server administration 
    • Active Directory integration 
    • IIS configuration 
  • SQL Server for SharePoint 
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting for SharePoint administration
  • Knowledge of SharePoint governance and best practices

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
