General Position Summary


ALFFCo is a leading provider of comprehensive facility management and construction solutions across the nation. With a commitment to excellence and a client-focused approach, we deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to meet the evolving needs of our clients. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and results-driven professional to join our team as an Estimator on our Operations team.


As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of construction projects, from initial concept to completion. This role requires a thorough understanding of construction materials, labor, and equipment, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as a part of a team. This individual will have a proven track record of producing accurate and timely estimates.


Responsibilities

  • Project Analysis:
  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications and other documentation to determine project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and assess project conditions.


Cost Estimation:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Utilize estimating software and tools to create accurate and comprehensive estimates.
  • Analyze and compare competitive bids from subcontractors.


Bid Preparation:

  • Prepare and submit competitive bids.
  • Ensure that all bids are accurate and comply with project requirements.
  • Maintain organized records of all estimating documents.


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the construction team and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Provide value engineering suggestions.


Database Maintenance:

  • Maintain and up-to-date database of cost information.
  • Track and analyze cost trends.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience estimating commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Professional certifications (CPE, CEP, CPCE, etc.) are preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods and codes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, Procore, etc.).
  • Experience with public and private construction bidding process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

Computer Skills

  • Quick learning ability for new database programs, proficient navigation of communication such as Microsoft Office applications, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (Bluebeam, Procore, etc.).
