To thrive as a Shaler, you need strong physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently with paving materials, usually gained through on-the-job experience or apprenticeship in road construction or asphalt paving. Proficiency with paving equipment such as asphalt rollers, shovels, rakes, and sometimes small machinery is necessary, along with familiarity with site safety protocols.
