What are the key responsibilities and challenges faced by Shakers in a bar or restaurant setting?

Shakers, often referred to as barbacks or bartending assistants, play a vital support role in busy bars and restaurants. Their daily responsibilities include restocking supplies, cleaning glassware, preparing garnishes, and ensuring bartenders have everything needed for efficient service. A common challenge in this role is managing the fast-paced environment, especially during peak hours, which requires strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask. Working closely with bartenders and other staff, Shakers gain valuable hands-on experience that can serve as a stepping stone for advancing to bartending or management positions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Shaker in the hospitality industry, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Shaker, often known as a cocktail bartender, you need strong knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and customer service, usually acquired through on-the-job training or bartending courses. Familiarity with bar equipment, POS systems, and food safety certifications is commonly required. Excellent communication, multitasking, and a personable attitude set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure efficient service, customer satisfaction, and compliance with health and safety standards in a busy bar environment.

What are shakers in the context of a job?

In a professional context, 'shakers' typically refers to individuals who work in environments such as bars or restaurants, where they are responsible for mixing and serving drinks, especially cocktails. Shakers, also known as bartenders or mixologists, use a cocktail shaker to blend ingredients and create beverages for customers. Their role often includes customer service, managing bar inventory, and maintaining a clean work area. Strong communication skills, knowledge of drink recipes, and the ability to work in fast-paced settings are important for this position.

Externally, you'll lead our clients to success they dreamed of. You'll intuit their needs and inspire them with what's possible.

We're looking for a savvy business leader: someone who understands an agency P&L and how we grow, and equally understands a client CMO's business struggles and how they grow. We need a socially-native thinker, who understands how to use social media to drive key client outcomes.

SALARY RANGE

Our estimated range for this role is $130-150k

*Don't let this range drive your decision to apply. Actual compensation packages are based on the level of skill and experience each candidate brings to their role. Similarly, there might also be a more senior or junior position available, that would be a better fit with your expertise. For example, a person may apply for a Senior Creative Producer role, and we may assess that their skills are at the Creative Producer level. Each level has its own compensation range.

At Movers+Shakers, we pride ourselves on competitive salaries, and we work hard to ensure there is pay equity across the company. We welcome open and honest conversations about compensation in all of our initial calls. We look forward to meeting you!
