Reading Interventionist & SFA Program Support
Job Description

Beta is a Title I Schoolwide campus. I understand that part or all of this job could be funded with federal funds.

This position is being funded with a federal funds grant, therefore this position is not guaranteed beyond the life of the grant.

Mission

Reading Interventionists are passionate and knowledgeable about teaching Reading. They provide research-based, effective reading interventions in small groups to increase the reading levels of struggling readers. They also manage reading data entry and assist with the management of Beta’s reading curriculum.

Qualifications:
  • At least five years of teaching experience in K-8 required.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing education/continuing professional development.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide joyful and rigorous teaching during one or more SFA class(es)
  • Teaches whole & small group interventions during intervention block(s).
  • Work with campus and district leaders to develop and implement a remediation plan for scholars reading below target.
  • Organize and distribute any/all Success For All (SFA) and Reading Horizons materials (reading curriculum).
  • Maintain and organize SFA materials, books, manuals, posters, consumables, and non-consumables, etc. in the curriculum room.
  • Keep an inventory of all SFA materials and keep a list of materials that need to be ordered.
  • Assign mastery levels every quarter based on assessments such as NWEA MAP & STAR.
  • Monitor student achievement and programming to see that every child is making adequate progress.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of all data gathering systems such as Member Center, DMAC, and Cambium (or others) to assist in data driven instruction and teacher/scholar support.
  • Understand and implement Beta-adopted Reading curriculum, tools, and software (Success For All, Reading Horizons, AR/STAR, etc.)
  • Teach before and after school tutorials to struggling scholars as assigned.
Professionalism & Communication:
  • Demonstrate professionalism by being in regular attendance and arriving on time to work, staff meetings, tutorials, cafeteria duty, parent nights and other assigned duties.
  • Complete required training on time.
  • Work cooperatively to create an atmosphere of unity among the school community and refrain from gossip, negativity and unsupportive comments.
  • Demonstrate professionalism at ALL times. I will exercise wisdom by remaining calm, respectful and non-defensive during parent meetings, disagreements, and personal attacks.
  • Utilize professional communication with strong grammar, syntax, usage and/or spelling skills during phone conversations, personal conversations, emails, and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. I will refrain from attacking others, fighting, or engaging in controversial subjects on social media.   • Exhibit professionalism in appearance and follow the BA standard of dress. I will apply this standard of dress to social media posts in regards to modesty in dress and action (ex: swimsuit, cleavage, & shirtless pictures, in addition to posts with alcohol, cigarettes and bars etc.).
  • Regularly communicate to parents about scholar achievement levels, class behavior, assigned homework, academic needs, and any concerns.
  • Check staff email a minimum of three times daily during normal working hours and check teacher in-box daily and commit to read updates, notes, and employee notices in a timely manner.

Terms of Employment:

10 month at-will employee.

Evaluation: Performance will be assessed annually by the principal(s) and/or Director of Curriculum & Instruction.
