Do sexologists sleep with patients?

Sexologists and sexual surrogates are professionals who provide therapy and support for sexual health issues; they do not sleep with their patients. Maintaining professional boundaries is essential in these roles to ensure ethical practice and effective treatment. Any sexual activity outside the therapeutic context is considered unethical and can lead to loss of licensure or certification.

What's the difference between a sexual therapist and a sexual surrogate?

A sexual surrogate is a trained professional who works with clients through physical intimacy exercises to address sexual issues, often under the guidance of a mental health professional. A sexual therapist is a licensed mental health professional who provides counseling and therapy to address emotional, psychological, or relational aspects of sexuality without physical contact. Both roles may collaborate in treatment but serve different functions within sexual health care.
