THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ATTORNEY-ADVISER (GENERAL) T32, Position Description Number and is part of the AZ JFHQ ARMY, National Guard.

This position is located at Joint Force Headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the full-time professional legal adviser and support to the Adjutant General, the Commander of federally recognized Army and Air National Guards, and state/territory unique public defense or safety structures or wing commander. In this primary purpose, this position also serves as the full-time professional legal advisor and support to Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and State Equal Employment Opportunity advisors, and subordinate commanders to support the state prevention efforts relating to sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic abuse. This position also serves as a professional legal adviser to the United States Property and Fiscal Officer (USPFO), state/territory National Guard senior leadership, state/territory National Guard directorates, and subordinate National Guard commanded units or state/territory level divisions.

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • Must be able to maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • Work may require frequent travel away from the normal duty station on military and commercial aircraft.
  • Recruitment, Relocation, or Retention Incentive may be offered and is subject to availability of funds.
  • Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered.
  • Applicant must be an Arizona Bar Member and Lawyer.

Qualifications
Military Grades: O-3/CPT to O-5/LTC
Compatible Military Assignments:
Army: 27A Branch
Air: 51J AFSC
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: The first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.), active membership in the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia and at least 2 years professional legal experience.
Education
You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
