Job description

Five Eighth Seams, a locally owned sewing and fabric store in Charleston, SC, is hiring a part-time team member for the summer! We’re looking for someone who enjoys helping others, has some sewing experience, and is comfortable in a creative retail environment.

Schedule & Availability:

  • 20 hours a week
  • looking for evenings 2-8pm, 12-7pm and or weekends

What we’re looking for:

  • Basic sewing knowledge
  • A friendly, dependable person who enjoys helping customers
  • Someone who is organized, motivated, and a team player
  • Willingness to learn about fabric, tools, and machine brands we carry

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting customers with fabric, patterns, and supplies
  • Cutting fabric accurately and maintaining store organization
  • Operating the register and restocking inventory
  • Supporting sewing classes or store events

Bonus points if you have:

  • Sales or retail experience, especially with big-ticket items
  • Experience with quilting, embroidery, or machine sewing
  • Familiarity with Husqvarna Viking or Pfaff machines (we can train you!)
