Position Summary

***This position pays $24.68 per hour!***

The Value Stream Leader is responsible for overseeing and working alongside the IVD department and its team members.

This individual will monitor production and quality control on all materials processed through the IVD department.

They are the first person a team member will reach out to with any questions about an order or other issues in the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains sewing machines and heat-sealing operations.• Inspects finished goods.• Performs trouble shooting of mechanical problems.• Assists with inventory counts• Helps to train new employees in the Department.• Supervises employees in the Department and ensure the appropriate allocation and usage of personnel in the department.• Directs, guides and assists employees in the performance of their duties.• Maintains and monitories inventories of raw materials, supplies and finished goods as deemed necessary.• Coordinates production summaries and generates required reports.• Schedules preventive maintenance on machines.• Performs other duties and handles special projects from time to time as assigned by the IVD Value Stream Manager or VP of Operations where applicable along with all other needed tasks.

After 60 days in the position the value stream leader must be able to demonstrate and maintain competence in the following:

  1. Maintain hour by hour boards per the standard work of setting goals by machine/flow, understanding and driving action to maintain the goals on the boards, real time problem solving to get back on track when performance goes red.
  2. Maintain KPI board for your shift's performance from a Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity standpoint as instructed per the KPI board standard work.
  3. Must be able to real time problem solve AND root cause through the 5 why process/fishbone process to create countermeasures to eliminate the cause from occurring in the future.
  4. When performance is red for Safety, Quality, Delivery, or Productivity you must be able to develop a plan, clearly articulate the plan (who, what, by when, and the impact) in order to achieve the goals stated on the KPI boards for the day/month/year.
  5. Able to successfully complete a Request for Lead Time in IVD by using current data.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Basic math aptitude
  • Prior leadership experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience using and implementing Lean Manufacturing practice

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of tow motor operations
  • Ability to read gauges, weight scales and tape measures
  • Basic mechanical nature
  • Ability to work on various machines
  • Knowledge of safety rules
  • Ability to operate industrial sewing machines, heat sealers, grommeting machines and rewinders
  • Knowledge of Sigma Six, CAPA, and Lean Manufacturing practices

Physical Requirements

This position will require an individual to stand for 8 or more hours per day. An individual will need to be able to lift items over 30lbs on a regular basis and occasionally lift items more than 50lbs. This position also requires an individual to be able to stand, kneel, bend, twist, reach, and flex for 8 or more hours per day as required to successfully complete the required work.
