Job Description Summary:


MES is seeking a Seamstress that efficiently performs uniform sewing, alternations, and embellishments, including tapering shirts, adjusting waists, hemming trousers, placing zippers, adding pant stripes, applying patches, name strips, and stripes. The specialist should be skilled in various sewing techniques, fabrics, and the use of embroidery machines, combining tailoring skills with the ability to create intricate designs on textiles.


Seamstress Role and Responsibilities:

  • Read and accurately identify the customer's needs per the Work Order Instructions.
  • Alter, repair, or customize uniforms according to customer specifications.
  • Cut and sew garments following customer requirement

Technical Proficiency:

  • Operate and maintain sewing machines, and other equipment.
  • Use tools such as needles, thread, sewing machines,

Quality Control:

  • Ensure all garments meet MES's high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
  • Inspect completed work for accuracy and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Make adjustments as needed to achieve a perfect finish.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a seamstress , preferably in the uniform industry.
  • Proficiency in operating sewing machines
  • Strong understanding of different fabrics, sewing techniques, and tailoring methods.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Vast knowledge of different types of sewing machines such as single needle, double needle, blind stitch, and merrow machines
  • Aptitude to adjust machine functions depending on the type of fabric being used
  • Know how to select the proper thread to use for certain types of materials

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

Work Environment:

  • Workshop with sewing machines

Physical requirements:

  • This work may require sitting for extended periods and operating sewing machines, and other equipment while using repetitive motions.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • Seamstress: 2 years (Required)
