Job description

Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description

We are seeking dedicated individuals to operate industrial sewing machines for the manufacture of medical device parts. Training will be provided through a week-long class, followed by mentorship on the production floor to ensure proficiency in the production process.

Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture medical device parts.
  • Set up sewing machine with the correct thread.
  • Increase production count to the expected output level for each product within 13 weeks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Sit for extended periods while operating sewing machines.
  • Request assistance or contact maintenance if issues arise with the sewing machine.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards.
Essential Skills

  • Ability to meet production goals.
  • Experience in or ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial sewing is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Work Environment

This is a contract manufacturing medical device company that has seen 30% growth over the past year, with 800 employees at the St Charles location. The production floor primarily features industrial sewing machines and operates in a clean GMP environment, where hair nets and beard nets are required. While not climate-controlled, fans are provided throughout the production area. The workforce is diverse, with over five languages spoken. Candidates who are not fluent in English may face challenges in sewing class, but self-sufficiency with translation technology is encouraged. First shift runs from 6am to 2:30pm, with voluntary extended hours and Saturday work available after achieving a certain rate. Second shift operates from 3pm to 11:30pm, with similar voluntary options.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
