Traveling Civil Superintendent – Data Center Construction

Location: West Texas (Projects in Sweetwater, Claude, Abilene, Amarillo & Childress, TX)
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $120,000 - $160,000 annually (DOE)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Civil Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale data center projects throughout West Texas, including projects in Sweetwater, Claude, Abilene, Amarillo, and Childress. This role will oversee all aspects of heavy civil construction, including earthwork, underground utilities, grading, excavation, and site development, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing large-scale commercial or mission-critical civil projects and excels at leading field teams, coordinating subcontractors, and driving production while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Supervise earthwork, grading, excavation, underground utility installation, storm drainage, water, sanitary sewer, and site development activities.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, equipment, materials, and manpower to meet project milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and construction schedules.
  • Conduct daily planning meetings and coordinate activities with Project Managers and Project Engineers.
  • Monitor project productivity, quality, and schedule performance.
  • Identify and resolve field issues to keep projects on track.
  • Maintain daily reports, production logs, and project documentation.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Civil Superintendent managing heavy civil construction projects.
  • Proven experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Data center experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in:
    • Earthwork
    • Site development
    • Underground utilities
    • Storm drainage
    • Water and sanitary sewer
    • Excavation and grading
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, scheduling, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $120,000 - $160,000 annual salary, depending on experience.
  • Per diem provided 7 days per week for employees residing more than 60 miles from the active job site.
