Job description

Overview

We are designing the grid of the future!ย 

EPE is in search of a Staff Engineer II with a background in EMT modellingย and power system studiesย to join our growing Energy Resources team. In this role you will work closely with senior leadership to support our growth strategy and provide subject matter expertise both internally through coaching and developing staff as well as externally to our clients.

Responsibilities

Howย you can make an impact:

  • EMT Studies: Perform power system studies such as temporary overvoltage, switching overvoltage, insulation coordination, harmonic, flicker, transient recovery volage, energization, lightning etc.ย 
  • Model Development:ย Develop dynamic generator/load models, perform disturbance ride through model tuning and perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking. ย 
  • Steady State Studies: Perform steady state studies such as load flow, short circuit and power quality.
  • Technology:ย Proficiency in power system modelling software such as PSCAD, PSSE, ETAP or equivalents. Familiarity with other specialized software such CDEGS, COMSOL, WinIGS and CYMCAP etc.ย  ย ย ย 
  • Compliance:ย Strong understanding of relevant industry standards such as IEEE/IEC/CIGRE.
Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what's needed:

  • 2+ years of experience in power system modelling and power system studies
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.ย 
  • Experience with control system tuning is an asset
  • Experience with Data Center projects is an asset
  • Experience with transmission line studies is an asset
