Lake Forest Schools is seeking a Board Clerk for the 2026-2027 school year.
Description: The Board Clerk works collaboratively, cohesively, and effectively with the Board of Education, Superintendent, and Executive Assistant to the Superintendent while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. The stipend is received for attending Board Meetings and coordinating the functions outlined below. The stipend is $207.40 for each meeting that occurs outside of regular work hours. Retreats or other meetings that occur during regular work hours are not eligible for additional pay.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and License:
  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years secretarial or clerical experience in a school or district office setting, preferred

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Ability to interact and communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with a variety of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize workflow, problem-solve, adapt to change, and meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite/Google Apps for Educators
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite/Google Apps for Educators and school-based personnel and financial information systems
  • Ability to work with speed, attention to detail, and consistency
  • Comfortable and pleasant demeanor in very active environments
  • Maintain professional appearance

Essential Functions:
For the District 67 and/or District 115 Boards of Education Meetings
  • Meet with Executive Assistant to the Superintendent prior to each Board Meeting to review the agenda, board packet, motion sheet, roll call sheet, documents needing signatures, and meal details
  • Confirm with the Tech team to ensure that the livestream and all audio/visual will be covered
  • Confirm room and furniture set ups with the custodial staff
  • Complete all set up for meetings: paper pads, pens, mints & water for Board members
  • Attend Committee Meetings, Board Workshop, Executive Session, & Board Meetings
  • Take minutes for all meetings
  • Record audio of Executive Session
  • Assist with presentations and technology for presenters
  • Collect board signatures on relevant documents
  • Coordinate tear down after Board Meetings (meals, tech items, furniture, etc.)
  • Follow up with the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent after the Board meeting to review each function listed above

Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
In the work environment, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in office environmental conditions. The employee occasionally works in the evenings or on weekends. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally works with the use of a personal vehicle. The employee will have contact with the public which requires appropriate demeanor and apparel. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
