Job description

Join a well-established organization known for its collaborative culture, long-tenured team, and commitment to employee development and excellence. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, partner directly with leadership, and help shape the future of technology in a people-focused environment that values professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Position Overview

The IT Manager serves as the company''''s primary internal technology resource and is responsible for overseeing day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure coordination, cybersecurity initiatives, end-user support, and Managed Service Provider (MSP) relationships.

This role acts as the bridge between senior leadership, employees, and external technology partners. While the MSP provides specialized engineering and project resources, the IT Manager is responsible for coordinating priorities, advocating for business needs, improving operational efficiency, and helping guide technology decisions that support the organization''''s growth and security objectives.

The position combines hands-on technical support, systems administration, vendor coordination, and technology planning, making it ideal for an experienced technical professional looking to expand their influence beyond traditional support functions.

Primary Responsibilities

1.      MSP & Vendor Management

o   Serve as the primary liaison between the company, the MSP, and technology vendors.

o   Coordinate support requests, escalations, project priorities, and technology initiatives.

o   Track and follow up on open tickets to drive timely resolution.

o   Review MSP recommendations and align proposed solutions with business needs.

o   Assist leadership in evaluating technology solutions, upgrades, and service offerings.

o   Monitor service quality and identify opportunities for improvement.

o   Review billable services and help determine appropriate allocation between internal and external resources.

o   Maintain accountability for vendor responsiveness, project execution, and service delivery.

2.     Infrastructure & Systems Coordination

o   Serve as the primary internal point of contact for infrastructure-related initiatives and technology projects.

o   Partner with the MSP to prioritize business needs, communicate operational requirements, and coordinate technology changes.

o   Monitor recurring system issues, user experience concerns, and operational risks, escalating trends and recommendations as appropriate.

o   Assist with technology asset management, inventory oversight, equipment lifecycle planning, and workstation standards.

o   Participate in discussions regarding infrastructure improvements, platform changes, technology investments, and future-state planning.

o   Provide hands-on support for employee technology needs when onsite intervention or business context is required.

o   Coordinate internal testing, communication, and user adoption efforts related to technology changes and system enhancements.

3.     New Hire & IT Process Management

o   Configure and deploy new workstations, accounts, and software for new employees.

o   Standardize IT onboarding processes to ensure seamless setup and minimize downtime.

o   Provide user training on basic IT processes and security best practices.

o   Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, and known system issues.

o   Physically set up workstations and peripheral equipment for onsite and traveling employees, including remote ship-out coordination if needed.

4.      Cybersecurity & Risk Management

o   Support cybersecurity initiatives in partnership with leadership and MSP resources.

o   Monitor compliance with security standards, MFA requirements, endpoint protection, and access controls.

o   Participate in vulnerability remediation efforts and cybersecurity improvement projects.

o   Assist with cybersecurity awareness and employee education efforts.

o   Coordinate response activities during security incidents or technology disruptions.

5.     End User Support & Operational Excellence

o   Provide escalation support for employee technology issues.

o   Identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.

o   Promote a high-quality end-user technology experience across the organization.

6.     Technology Planning & Continuous Improvement

o   Recommend process improvements and technology enhancements.

o   Assist leadership with technology budgeting and planning discussions.

o   Research and evaluate new technologies that improve efficiency, security, and scalability.

o   Participate in infrastructure and platform planning initiatives as the company''''s technology needs evolve.

Preferred Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Strong understanding of endpoint management, networking fundamentals, cybersecurity best practices, and systems administration.
  • Experience working directly with MSPs and third-party technology vendors.
  • Ability to balance hands-on technical work with project coordination and business communication.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Skills & Technologies: Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server, Cisco Meraki, Cybersecurity, MFA, Firewalls, Azure, VPNs, IT Governance, Vendor Management, MSP Oversight, Compliance, PowerShell, Endpoint Management, Network Administration, Project Management, and related technologies.
