Job description

Help the animals of Summit County by becoming a team member at our thrift shop, Happy Tails, located at 1770 Merriman Rd, Akron, OH 44313. All proceeds from the shop go directly to fund the life-saving work done at the Humane Society of Summit County shelter located a couple minutes down the road.

We are now accepting applications for a part-time (30-39 hours) Donation Processor at the Happy Tails Thrift Shop. If you are an efficient, courteous individual who has excellent customer service skills, we want you!

This position is responsible for assisting with donation intake, sorting, answering inquiries and providing helpful information about products.

Successful candidates will have a passion for working with antiques, vintage, retro, and collectibles of all types and be able to work weekends. The position is physically demanding, will primarily perform duties in an outdoor environment, and will be required to work in high heat and low temperatures. Potential candidates must be comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions.

Brief Description:

  • Assists donors with unloading donations from their vehicles in the designated outdoor intake area.
  • Sorting of donations into categories based on type (e.g., housewares, books, crafts, etc.)
  • Ensures the Donation Intake area is maintained in an orderly manner.
  • Welcome customers, field inquiries, and help them locate items while always providing a high level of personalized customer service.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and organized workspace
  • Handle physical tasks such as lifting heavy items, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Cross-trained to be able to fill in as needed on the cash register.
  • Performs other related duties of a comparable nature as assigned.
