What is a service manager?

Service manager is a broad title given to positions throughout a wide variety of industries. As it is an umbrella term, responsibilities vary significantly from job to job. However, in all service manager positions, your duties revolve around ensuring that the services your company offers are running smoothly. This means coordinating with a team of service workers to ensure that their work meets the standards set by the company and the industry. In industries like healthcare, this may require more than basic customer service, as your team must also meet government regulations. Management positions may require overtime, especially in shift work industries, as you are responsible for the performance of the entire department, not just a particular shift. Necessary skills and qualifications vary by job. However, all service managers must be organized, able to delegate when needed, and have excellent communication skills.

Is a service manager a stressful job?

A service manager role can be stressful due to responsibilities such as overseeing customer satisfaction, managing staff, and meeting performance targets. The job often requires strong organizational skills, problem-solving, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations, especially in fast-paced environments.

Job description

Field Service Technician (Mid- to Senior-Level)

Remote / Field-Based | Extensive Travel | Must Live Near a Major Airport

At Cyclonaire, we don’t just install equipment—we deliver Lifetime Solutions. Our Field Service Technicians are the face of that promise, working directly with customers to commission, troubleshoot, and optimize advanced pneumatic conveying systems across the globe.

We’re looking for a mid- to senior-level Field Service Technician who is technically sharp, safety-driven, and deeply aligned with our Core Values. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on autonomy, takes pride in disciplined execution, and still values being part of a highly collaborative team.

Why Cyclonaire?

Cyclonaire is built on strong Core Values that guide how we work, how we treat customers, and how we support one another. In this role, living our Core Values is just as important as technical skill. We’re looking for professionals who do the right thing, work safely, communicate clearly, and take ownership of results—every time.

What You’ll Do

As a Field Service Technician, you will independently execute and lead service activities while representing Cyclonaire with professionalism and confidence at customer sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Cyclonaire systems

  • Performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-related service work

  • Diagnosing and resolving complex issues using structured troubleshooting methods

  • Leading or supporting commissioning of complex systems (senior-level scope)

  • Identifying patterns, systemic issues, and opportunities for improvement

  • Providing guidance or informal mentoring to other technicians as experience allows

  • Delivering clear, accurate documentation and service reporting

  • Communicating effectively with customers, operators, and internal teams

Safety Is Non-Negotiable

Strong attention to safety and work discipline is essential. You’ll be expected to:

  • Follow Cyclonaire and customer safety policies without exception

  • Properly use required PPE and stop work if unsafe conditions exist

  • Set the standard for safe behavior in industrial environments

  • Protect yourself, your teammates, and our customers—always

Who You Are

You’re a self-directed professional who takes pride in doing things the right way.

You are:

  • Self-disciplined and highly accountable, able to work independently in the field

  • Team-oriented, willing to collaborate, share knowledge, and support others

  • Comfortable making sound decisions—and knowing when to escalate

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with documentation and follow-through

  • Customer-focused, professional, and confident in high-visibility environments

  • Energized by travel and hands-on technical problem-solving

What You Bring
  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent experience

  • Mid- to senior-level field service, industrial maintenance, or automation experience

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with PLC-based systems, commissioning, and industrial controls preferred

  • Ability to manage extensive travel (80–90%, domestic and international)

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a passport

  • Must live in close proximity to a major airport

Work Environment & Travel

This is a remote, field-based role with significant travel to customer sites across a variety of industrial environments and climates. Flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism are critical to success.

Our Commitment

Cyclonaire is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity, integrity, and inclusion—and we’re committed to providing a safe, respectful, and challenging work environment where people can grow and succeed.
