The successful candidate will demonstrate industry experience with strong cloud capability to design and manage scalable, secure, and efficient data infrastructure across technology platforms (cloud and on-prem), ensuring seamless integration, storage, and access to enterprise and operational data. The Integration architect will support business operations and technology strategy by enabling system integration and operations. A key focus will manage the interfaces between technology systems (including cloud and on-prem solutions) and various business units to ensuring smooth communication and data exchange.

The project involves technology systems contributing to mission-critical operations and business continuity. This role requires strong communication, technical, project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across different teams. AtkinsRealis' vast experience of projects and infrastructure operations across key markets provides the successful candidate a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most important airport projects in Canada. This position is based at our Project Office in the west end ofToronto, Ontariorequiring the candidate to be in office Monday to Friday weekly.

Your role
  • Provide evaluation and recommendation of tools, platforms, and standards (e.g., APIs, middleware, messaging systems) best suited for airport integration needs.

  • Review and assess current integration practice, assess LIFT integration needs and make recommendation for future proof Integration Stack Architecture evolution from as-is to "to-be".

  • Define and execute project to design, procure and implement next Gen Integration Stack.

  • Define architectures to connect applications (on-premises, cloud, legacy systems).

  • Implement secure data exchange practices and ensure compliance with regulations and corporate policies.

  • Review and validate solution designs, drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy, scalability, and compliance.

  • Integrate disparate systems, ensuring they communicate effectively to support business operations and digital strategy.

  • Lead technical workshops, design reviews, and peer reviews with stakeholders, consultants, and integrators.

  • Create and/or modify IT standards, specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Create concept and detailed designs, scopes of work, and technical drawings.

  • Support procurement and vendor evaluation.

  • Inspect and audit for proper installation, testing, and commissioning.

  • Guide engineering and construction teams on complex integration implementation.

  • Participate in project planning, risk assessments, and root-cause analysis of issues related to system integration.

About you
  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum requirement) in Computer Science, Information Technology, and or Software Engineering Electrical or Electronic Engineering (with IT focus).

  • Master's Degree (preferred or advantageous) in: Enterprise Architecture, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering.

  • 10+ years in enterprise and system integration, cloud platforms, APIs, data flow design.

  • 10 years experience working in a Class-C Canadian airport environment providing services of similar scope and scale.

  • Experience with large infrastructure and/or Airport Development projects and Technology integration (with airline business processes).

  • Experience in managing technical resources, including, engineers, architects, developers, and/organizations (vendors).

  • Relevant Certifications preferred:

    • TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework).

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

    • Google Professional Cloud Architect.

    • MuleSoft Certified Integration Architect.

    • Dell Boomi Professional Certification.

    • IBM Integration Bus or App Connect Certifications.

    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).

    • Docker Certifications.

    • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or SAFe Agilist (for Agile integration projects).

  • Strong knowledge of integration tools such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Kafka, Microsoft Azure Integration Services, or IBM Integration Bus.

  • Knowledge of business and technology ecosystems, including cloud (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS) platforms, hybrid environments, edge computing, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), APIs (Application Programming Interface), and microservices.

  • Familiarity with system development life cycle management, IT services management, IT infrastructure and operations, and IT Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, ITIL, Agile, DevOps, CI/CD).

  • Familiarity of compliance and standards: ISO 27001, ANSI/TIA, BICSI, IATA.

  • Technical skills in architecture components, including, REST, SOAP, MQTT, AMQP, and other integration protocols.

  • Understanding of data modeling, schema design, and standard data exchange formats (JSON, XML, CSV).

  • Understanding of smart infrastructure, sensor networks, IIoT, and edge analytics for airport operations and passenger experience.

  • Familiar with Aviation and Terminal Systems such AS Baggage Handling Systems (BHS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Passenger Processing Systems (e.g., CUTE/CUPPS), Security & Access Control, Airport Operational Database (AODB), SCADA and PLC integration.

  • Project management and contract management, applied to management of technology vendors and deliverables in construction industry.

  • A problem-solver with customer focus, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with others.

  • Passion for excellence, strong work ethic and results driven.

  • Security and Compliance certifications (especially important in aviation/airport projects) considered an asset:

    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

    • ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer or Auditor.

    • CompTIA Security+.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $100,200 - $137,700 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role.
