Commercial Insurance | Base Salary + Uncapped Commission | Early-Career Sales Opportunity

About the Role

  • The Trucking Business Development Consultant (BDC) is a business development and sales-focused role responsible for generating and closing new commercial insurance opportunities within the trucking industry.
  • In this position, you will work with mid-market trucking companies (approximately 50-400 power units), helping them protect their businesses through tailored Property & Casualty insurance solutions, with opportunities to introduce Employee Benefits programs as relationships grow.
  • Reporting directly to the Strategic Growth Officer of our National Transportation Practice, you will receive mentorship, training, and support from experienced transportation insurance professionals while maintaining ownership of your sales pipeline and results.
  • This role is ideal for a motivated sales professional looking to build a long-term career in commercial insurance, develop consultative selling skills, and increase earnings through performance-based compensation.

What You'll Do

Drive New Business Development

  • Prospect mid-market trucking companies through phone outreach, email campaigns, LinkedIn networking, industry events, and in-person meetings
  • Identify client insurance needs related to fleet operations, risk management, and business exposures
  • Schedule, lead, and advance sales conversations with prospective clients
  • Present insurance solutions in a professional, consultative manner
  • Manage opportunities from initial contact through close
  • Maintain accurate activity, pipeline, and prospect data in Salesforce

Manage and Grow Your Sales Pipeline

  • Organize and prioritize leads, prospects, and opportunities within Salesforce

  • Apply coaching, market feedback, and best practices to improve close rates and sales performance

Lead Client Meetings and Sales Communications

  • Prepare professional proposals, presentations, and client-facing materials
  • Build credibility and trust through consistent communication and follow-through
  • Develop long-term relationships with prospective trucking clients

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings, industry events, and conferences

  • Familiarity with commercial insurance, risk management, or transportation-related services
  • Experience using prospecting and sales intelligence platforms such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, or similar tools
