Job Description
Dining room supervisor- FT. 40 hours a week, variable days, weekends required. Pay DOE.
Job Summary:
The Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for creating a memorable dining experience for residents. Under the direction of the Director of Dining Services and/or Executive Chef, they oversee all aspects of the dining room operation, including cleanliness, equipment, setup, service, and staff training, scheduling, direction, and management to ensure residents receive the highest quality of customer service, efficiency, and professionalism during their mealtimes. They will lead a team ensuring a smooth dining experience from seating guests with a smile to supporting servers throughout each meal service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the cleanliness and readiness of the dining room and food service areas, ensuring all areas comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Lead and develop the dining team by interviewing, training, and providing coaching.
  • Assist with daily operations by creating schedules, providing direct supervision of dining staff to ensure efficient and professional service, and enforcing professional standards and policies for staff grooming, dress code, etiquette, and courteous service.
  • Assist with serving, bussing, and resetting tables as needed to ensure smooth service.
  • Elevate resident satisfaction by regularly surveying residents for feedback and implementing necessary service improvements.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere by ensuring all residents are properly greeted and seated, with special attention given to integrating new residents.
  • Oversee meal tracking and delivery and account for the presence of every resident by supervising the tracking of meal attendance, communicating with the designated team member for a safety check on absent residents, and coordinating the delivery and retrieval of in-room meals, with accurate charges sent to the business office.
  • Promptly report any safety or equipment issues to the Director of Dining Services or Executive Chef.
  • Aid in community marketing efforts through positive interactions, dress, and behavior.
  • Assist in breaking down deliveries, putting away stock, and washing dishes as needed.
  • Support the Dining Services team by assisting Servers, Cooks, and other staff with their job duties and taking on their responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests following established safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with Federal, State, and local regulations, and company policies and procedures concerning the department.
  • Promote and lead with a spirit of teamwork and open communication through consistent mentoring, coaching and recognition program utilization, in alignment with MBK principles and core values.
  • Perform other job duties and special projects as assigned or requested by Supervisor, or Dining Room Manager.

Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • College degree or education courses in food service or management preferred.
  • First Aid, Food Handler's, and ServSafe Certification required.

Experience Requirements (in years):
  • 1+ years of work experience in dining room operations or a similar environment.

Required Competencies/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment (must be within the last 6 months).
  • Must have basic math skills and excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, write, and read English.
  • Must possess the ability to make sound, independent decisions when circumstances warrant and remain calm during stressful or emergency situations.
  • Must possess the ability to operate standard service equipment and minimize waste and misuse of supplies and equipment.
  • Must possess the ability to always deal tactfully and professionally with personnel, residents, family members, and guests.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including standing for prolonged periods, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, pulling, lifting overhead, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday and throughout the community.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.
