What are Server Expos?

Server Expos, often called food expeditors or expo servers, are restaurant staff responsible for coordinating and ensuring the smooth flow of food orders from the kitchen to the dining area. They act as a communication link between kitchen staff and servers, making sure that dishes are prepared correctly, presented properly, and delivered to customers promptly. Server Expos check orders for accuracy, handle special requests, and help maintain the pace and quality of service during busy shifts. Their role is crucial in providing a seamless dining experience for guests.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Server Expo, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Server Expo, you need strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and a keen attention to detail, often gained through experience in fast-paced restaurant environments. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and kitchen communication protocols is typically required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are standout soft skills. These qualities ensure efficient food delivery, smooth coordination between the kitchen and front-of-house staff, and high-quality customer service.
