Job description

Job Title: Upscale/Fine dining server
Location: Santee, CA
Position Type: Part Time

About Us:
The Heritage Steakhouse at Lantern Crest is East County’s first premier, upscale dining destination known for its innovative menu, craft cocktails, and its commitment to service. We are dedicated to creating unparalleled culinary experiences and fostering a culture of excellence while bringing something new to the community.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned, passionate fine dining server to join our team. The ideal candidate possesses an extensive knowledge of food and wine, impeccable service standards, and the ability to anticipate guest needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Expert Menu & Wine Knowledge: Memorize complex menus, including specific ingredients, preparation techniques, and potential allergens. Servers must also possess extensive wine knowledge to provide confident recommendations and proper pairings.
  • Formal Table Etiquette: Adhere to strict service protocols, such as the "open hand" method (never reaching across a guest) and specific rules for serving from the left and clearing from the right.
  • Precision Timing & Coordination: Flawlessly time multi-course meals by coordinating closely with the kitchen to ensure seamless service.
  • Tableside Service: Perform specialized tasks like pouring wine without setting the bottle down, decanting wine, seasoning dishes at the table, or even advanced techniques such as tableside dish preparation.
  • Anticipatory Guest Service: Discreetly monitor tables to fulfill needs—such as replacing a dropped fork or adjusting for a guest's comfort—without being intrusive.
  • Professional Presentation: Maintain an impeccable personal appearance, including a spotless, pressed uniform and meticulous grooming, as servers set the tone for the entire atmosphere.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in an upscale or fine-dining environment.
  • Technical Savvy: High proficiency with POS systems (Toast/Micros/Aloha)
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Must excel at clear, courteous communication with both high-profile guests and internal teams.
