About this role

Dow has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Microsoft 365 Collaboration Services System Administrator located in Midland, MI or Houston, TX.

In this role, you will serve as a key member of the ITS&S Collaboration Services team, providing Level 3-4 system administration across Dow's full Microsoft 365 platform - including Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange Server SE, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office 365 applications. Dow's M365 environment supports users globally and is mission-critical to virtually every Dow business functionand functions. You will provide solution consultation and engineering, drive security and compliance initiatives, support enterprise-scale and serve as a trusted technical advisor ensuring Dow's collaboration ecosystem is secure, compliant, and continuously improving.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 3-4 system administration, solution consultation, and engineering for Microsoft Exchange Online and on-premises Exchange Server SE infrastructure, including hybrid configuration management, SMTP relay governance for business-critical systems, mail flow architecture (connectors, transport rules, DNS/SPF/DKIM/DMARC), and mailbox lifecycle management.
  • Administer SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, including site provisioning and governance, permission and access management, external sharing policies, Information Steward responsibilities, storage management, site modernization, file share-to-SharePoint migrations, and monitoring of high-risk admin changes across all management interfaces.
  • Administer Microsoft Teams, including tenant policy, Teams governance (ownership lifecycle, archival processes), compliance, and app ecosystem governance (approval gates, permission policies, audits).
  • Perform security patching, update management, and security hardening across servers and the M365 tenant; manage Entra ID role assignments (PIM/JIT), RBAC for applications, and conduct periodic admin access reviews across Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams admin roles to ensure least-privilege compliance.
  • Support Microsoft Purview compliance functions across the M365 ecosystem, including eDiscovery and legal holds, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), retention labels and policies, audit log management, and data privacy requests (GDPR/SOX) spanning Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive content.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation for administrative tasks, reporting, health monitoring, bulk operations, and governance signals (e.g., owner attestation, guest recertification, OneDrive sync monitoring) across all M365 workloads.
  • Actively monitor Microsoft Message Center posts, roadmap changes, and new feature releases; evaluate and prepare for rollouts; coordinate change communications with affected stakeholders; and drive feature enablement in partnership with Microsoft and internal teams (Security, Records Management, Data Privacy, Computer Services).
  • Support strategic enterprise projects including migrations, Exchange infrastructure upgrades, licensing support, Microsoft feature deprecation, and cross-workload lifecycle alignment (Teams SharePoint Exchange) for retention and eDiscovery.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant or 5 years of experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience administering Microsoft 365 services, with hands-on expertise in at least two of the following: Exchange Online/Server, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, or OneDrive for Business. 5+ years preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in PowerShell scripting for M365 administration, including automation, bulk operations, reporting, and troubleshooting across Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) identity management, including role-based access control (RBAC), Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and conditional access policies.
  • Schedule: Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. This role participates in an on-call rotation for M365 incident response and supports scheduled maintenance windows for server patching and tenant-wide changes.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in contract lifecycle management (CLM), including drafting, negotiating, and redlining.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview compliance tools (eDiscovery, DLP, retention policies, legal holds, audit), multi-geo M365 configurations, email security gateways (e.g., Cisco IronPort), and ServiceNow ITSM for incident and change management.
  • Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert (MS-102), Messaging Administrator Associate (MS-203), Teams Administrator Associate (MS-700), or SharePoint Administrator (MS-721).

  • PowerShell & Automation: Advanced PowerShell scripting for Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive administration, including Graph API, SPO Management Shell, Teams PowerShell, and Exchange Online PowerShell modules for automation, reporting, and governance
  • Microsoft 365 Platform Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of the M365 ecosystem - Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Office Apps - and how these services integrate and depend on each other for mail flow, collaboration, compliance, and retention.
  • Security & Compliance: Deep understanding of M365 security practices including Entra ID role management (PIM/JIT), SharePoint admin change monitoring, Microsoft Purview (eDiscovery, DLP, retention, audit), data classification, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, SOX).
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across IT, Legal, Finance, HR, Operations, Security, Records Management, and external vendors (Microsoft); adept at adapting communication for technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership briefings and end-user guidance.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Expert-level ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues across Exchange mail flow, SharePoint site/permissions, Teams policies, OneDrive sync, and hybrid configurations under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Governance & Information Architecture: Strong knowledge of SharePoint site governance (site lifecycle, permission models, external sharing, versioning, retention), Teams governance (ownership, archival, naming conventions), OneDrive policies, and file storage strategy across platforms.
  • Continuous Learning & Agility: Self-starter who stays current with Microsoft roadmap changes, Message Center announcements, and evolving security threats; proactively evaluates new features and capabilities and drives adoption across the organization.
  • Incident Management & ITSM: Experience with ITIL-based incident management, ServiceNow (or equivalent) ticketing systems, SLA management, change management processes (CAB, release calendars), and on-call escalation protocols for P1 incidents.
