It's a celebration that's shared, savored, and enjoyed with the finest spirits.  Join us in this ritual.  We welcome you to Toro, Richard Sandoval's Restaurant and Tequila Bar, which features a casually unique upbeat dining experience.  Toro will have a small plate menu along with a Suviche (Sushi & Ceviche combination) bar food offering at the restaurant's lively and energetic bar setting. The beverage experience will include a variety of hand-muddled cocktails, a collection of Latin wines, and a variety of tequila and agave based spirits.

Your Role: Cultivating Food & Beverage Excellence

Exceptional service and cuisine are hallmarks of the Toro Chicago, by Richard Sandoval, dining experience. As a server assistant, you will take pride in the integral role you play in supporting your Food & Beverage Colleagues and "setting the stage" for a truly memorable meal.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Consistently offer a professional, friendly greeting and engaging service
  • Offer the highest level of support. Assists their server as much as possible in as many ways as possible.
  • Taking food items from the kitchen to the guest tables with grace, precision, and speed
  • Carrying a tray and a tray jack that weigh up to 30 pounds at a swift pace efficiently
  • Clears tables when guests are finished. Works with other FOH team members to make sure enough "hands" are available when a table is finished.
  • Sets each table in their section flawlessly and perfectly. Checks each table for completeness of setting.
  • Makes sure tables are aligned perfectly, chairs are aligned perfectly, candle holders, etc.
  • Stocks side stations and maintains appropriate pars of silverware, glassware, napkins, share plates, marking trays and condiments throughout service.
  • Maintains water levels throughout service. Remember which positions are which tables are drinking which type of water.
  • Performs all assigned side work before, during, and after their shift.
  • Follow brand policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
  • Follow hotel time and attendance policy
  • Follow grooming and attire guidelines
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts including AM, PM, evenings and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation: $15.45 per Hour, tip eligible

Qualifications
  • Previous Food & Beverage experience an asset, but not required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to): 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
