SEPTA will be hosting a Virtual Engineering Recruitment Event on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) is seeking to hire mulitple Project Manager (7131) and Senior Project Engineers for The Trolley Modernization Transportation Projects.
This Virtual Event will give you access to speak directly with SEPTA's Trolley Modernization Engineering Hiring Managers, and Human Resources Staff. We will be engaging with applicants about SEPTA's current Trolley Modernization engineering projects, employment opportunities for these projects, and the potential career growth possibilities.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION
The Trolley Modernization Program is an opportunity to transform the nation's largest trolley network, delivering benefits across the region. Trolley Modernization delivers equity, by improving transit access in urban communities; improved air quality, by lowering pollution and keeping more cars off the road; and community, by linking more communities together.
We are seeking to hire candidates with experience and extensive background in Engineering/Architecture, Project Management and/or Construction Management for the following positions:
PROJECT MANAGER (7131) - TROLLEY MODERNIZATION
The Project Manager is responsible for development and management of complex projects within the Trolley Modernization Program. We are seeking skilled and motivated Project Managers to lead corridor modernization projects, OCS conversion, new substations, bridge upgrades, and other supporting infrastructure projects. This position involves managing third-party consultants, leading stakeholder and agency coordination, and ensuring conformance to applicable funding requirements. This person will supervise and coordinate the work of a team of engineers/architects and construction inspectors.
For the corridor modernization projects, SEPTA is pursuing FTA Capital Investment Grant funding and is seeking candidates with experience on similar projects.
Starting Salary Range: $121,966.00
Additional $5,000 salary increase for having a Pennsylvania PE License.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related discipline and eight (8) years of progressive engineering/architectural employment experience, or an equivalent combination of engineering and project management, or related experience in construction is required. Experience in Civil Engineering, or Architecture, is preferred.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture, with EIT or either Master's Degree in Engineering or MBA with six (6) years responsible experience.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • PA registered Professional Engineer/Registered Architect (PE/RA) preferred.
  • Experience in public transit project management preferred.

SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER (1017) - TROLLEY MODERNIZATION
The Senior Project Engineer will be responsible for managing projects of moderate complexity and/or supporting complex projects within the Trolley Modernization Program. This role is responsible for scope definition and management of the project through the procurement, design and construction phases. This includes project management, construction management, and coordination with utilities, governmental agencies, and SEPTA's Engineering, Maintenance & Construction and Operations departments.
Starting Salary: $116,428.00
Additional $5,000 salary increase for having a Pennsylvania PE License.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, OR Bachelor of Architecture and seven (7) years engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of engineering and project management or related experience required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Willingness to work evenings and nights as required to attend meetings and complete project work.
  • PA registered Professional Engineer/Registered Architect (PE/RA) preferred.
  • Experience in public transit project management preferred.
