We are seeking a highly skilledย C/C++ Software Engineerย to support mission-criticalย Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I)ย systems for U.S. Customs and Border Protectionโsย Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC). This role supports theย Air and Marine Operations Surveillance System (AMOSS)ย and related ISR systems that provide real-time air and maritime domain awareness across national and international operating areas.
The engineer will work on advanced radar tracking, sensor fusion, data correlation, and real-time operational displays that directly support homeland security and law enforcement operations.
Software Engineering & Development
- Design, develop, enhance, maintain, and debugย C and C++ย software supporting AMOSS and associated C4I systems.
- Develop and maintain advancedย radar tracking, correlator, and sensor fusion algorithms.
- Integrate newย air, maritime, and ground-based sensorsย and data feeds into AMOSS.
- Support ingestion and correlation ofย radar plots, track data, flight plan data, GPS tracking, ADS-B, and tactical data links.
- Modify and enhance AMOSS user interfaces, including real-time displays and data visualization components.
- Develop and maintain interfaces for bothย dedicated AMOSS clientsย andย Web-based AMOSSย capabilities.
Systems Integration & Operations
- Supportย second-tier software maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and system performance optimization.
- Participate in system upgrades, refreshes, and deployments at AMOC, CAMOC, COOP, and international partner sites.
- Ensure software changes comply withย DHS, CBP, and AMOC configuration managementย and security requirements.
- Support installation, integration, testing, and validation of software changes in operational and test environments.
Algorithms & Advanced Analytics
- Develop and maintain tracking and correlation algorithms, including:
- Adaptiveย Kalman filteringย for target smoothing and prediction
- Optimal assignment algorithmsย for plot-to-track correlation
- Support enhancements related toย data mining, analytics, and predictive threat modeling.
- Collaborate with data scientists and system engineers supporting AI/ML-enabled threat detection systems (e.g., Kestrel).
Documentation & Collaboration
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including:
- Software Version Description Documents (SVDD)
- Installation Plans (IP)
- Systems Acceptance Test Plans (SATP)
- Source code documentation for long-term sustainment
- Participate in technical interchange meetings with government stakeholders.
- Support Program Management Reviews (PMRs) and operational briefings as required.
- U.S. Citizen
- Secret Clearance Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field (Masterโs degree preferred)
Experience
- Demonstrated experience developingย real-time, mission-critical systems.
- Experience withย Linux-basedย development and deployment environments.
- Experience withย sensor data processing, tracking systems, or complex data correlation.
- Experience debugging and maintaining large, legacy codebases.Bachelor's degree and 8-10+years of related work experience
Technical Skills

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
