The Role

The Senior Customer Solutions Engineer is responsible for delivering endtoend solutions for customer orders by engineering the required wavelength and Ethernet capacity to meet all technical and service requirements. This role focuses on interpreting customer order specifications and collaborating across internal teams to develop and execute plans that resolve network capacity needs on wavelength transport networks. You will work closely with crossfunctional engineering, planning, and operations groups to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient fulfillment of customer requests-driving solutions directly from customer demand rather than forecasting or trending initiatives.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Performs detailed and complex solutioning for Wavelength and Ethernet customer orders.
  • Triggers projects utilizing the most feasible, practical and economical means. 
  • Performs engineering work and applied research, development and design of new projects, to include design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of equipment and devices. 
  • Skilled in planning and/or engineering. 
  • Analyzes complex Wavelength and Ethernet transport network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices. 
  • Must be capable of handling moderately complex engineering assignments. 
  • Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.
  • Configures systems to user environments.
  • Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services. 
  • May act as a mentor or provide work leadership for lower level employees.
  • Requires limited direction and guidance.
What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant experience 
  • Experience with Ciena 6500 DWDM system. 
  • Experience designing DWDM system plans. 
  • SQL experience. 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
