Job description

Coretek is seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Consultant to lead customer Azure infrastructure engagements from discovery and design through implementation, validation, documentation, and transition to managed services. This role is ideal for a senior delivery consultant who can operate as a trusted customer advisor, technical escalation point, and future architect-level contributor. Coretek Services is an industry-leading consulting and managed solutions provider based in Southeastern Michigan, built on a foundation of passionate technology professionals who embody our values of Accountability, Integrity, and Relationships. Coretek specializes in AI & data, cloud, virtualization, networking, security, modern data center, and mobility technologies, and is distinguished as a Microsoft Azure Expert MSP.
SUCCESS IN THE ROLE
  • Deliver customer projects on budget, on schedule, and aligned to defined business and technical outcomes while creating a high-quality customer experience.
  • Serve as a reliable technical escalation point who resolves complex issues and uses those situations to strengthen team capability.
  • Partner effectively with Project Management to set expectations, communicate risks, and maintain clear stakeholder alignment throughout engagements.
  • Contribute to Coretek's relationship-based culture by consistently demonstrating Accountability, Integrity, and Relationships in work with customers and internal teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead discovery and requirements definition to understand the customer's business drivers, technical constraints, and desired outcomes.
  • Design and implement Azure infrastructure solutions, including detailed solution designs, implementation plans, validation steps, and operational documentation.
  • Implement new Azure environments using Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework principles, including migration of on-premises and cloud workloads through Azure Migrate where appropriate.
  • Validate implemented solutions for functionality, security, resiliency, and operational readiness before customer handoff.
  • Facilitate onboarding of customer environments to Managed Services through clear knowledge transfer, support transition planning, and complete documentation.
  • Develop implementation plans and technical guidance that enable other team members to execute build activities consistently and accurately.
  • Perform troubleshooting, remediation, and root cause analysis for complex Azure infrastructure issues.

Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Support development and review of Statements of Work, technical scopes, solution assumptions, and estimates for complex Azure engagements.
  • Review solution designs and bills of materials with manufacturers, partners, or internal stakeholders to confirm alignment with project requirements.
  • Improve Coretek-defined standards, templates, and repeatable delivery assets based on field experience and lessons learned.

Requirements
TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES
  • Core Azure Infrastructure: Virtual Machines, Virtual Machine Scale Sets, storage solutions, Azure Migrate, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, monitoring, logging, and operational readiness.
  • Networking: ExpressRoute, virtual networks, routing, load balancing, Azure Front Door, Application Gateway, Private Link, private endpoints, and ingress services.
  • Platform Services: Azure SQL Database, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure App Service, Cosmos DB, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and related PaaS capabilities.
  • Security, Identity, and Governance: Microsoft Entra ID, role-based access control, encryption, data protection, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy, and governance frameworks.
  • Cost Management: Azure Cost Management, cost optimization, rightsizing, tagging strategy, and consumption management practices.

Delivering via Automation and IaC
Well-qualified candidates will have experience deploying Azure infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code and automation. Core experience should include the ability to use provided modules, scripts, and pipelines, and to edit or refactor existing code. Relevant tools and platforms may include ARM or Bicep templates, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, Packer, Azure DevOps, and PowerShell.
Additional Skills of Value
Coretek delivers a broad portfolio of solutions, and candidates with cross-domain experience that complement Azure infrastructure delivery will be especially valuable. Differentiating experience may include DevOps, AI and data platforms, Microsoft 365 Enterprise, merger and acquisition solutions, Citrix and Microsoft virtualized end-user computing, modern security solutions such as SOC and SIEM platforms, enterprise and cloud networking, network security, load balancing, modern data center technologies, and non-Azure public cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
