We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to serve as a key connector between Support Services, DevOps, and IT Security. This role ensures secure, reliable, and efficient IT operations across our multi-site environment, including Las Vegas HQ and the San Diego office.

Support Services and end-user experience

  • Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for Help Desk, resolving complex issues across multiple sites.
  • Define, track, and report SLA/KPI metrics such as uptime, resolution time, and user satisfaction.
  • Mentor Support Services staff and help cross-train San Diego users on basic IT support functions.


Infrastructure and cloud operations

  • Install, configure, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted systems, including servers, desktops, laptops, firewalls, switches, routers, access points, and VPNs.
  • Administer Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Linux, VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and Azure environments.
  • Design and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
  • Own and optimize network infrastructure, including LAN/Wi-Fi equipment and FortiGate SD-WAN and VPN services.


DevOps and automation

  • Partner with DevOps teams to integrate infrastructure into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Automate patching, deployment, configuration, and device management using Ansible, Intune, JAMF, and scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
  • Support release readiness, environment preparation, and rollback planning.


Security and compliance

  • Work with Security to implement Zero Trust and micro-segmentation strategies.
  • Integrate and maintain EDR and SIEM tools for monitoring and response.
  • Support compliance efforts aligned with NIST, CIS v8, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
  • Lead vulnerability remediation and penetration test follow-up.
  • Manage role-based access and identity governance in Azure AD / Entra ID.
  • Coordinate with Facilities on physical security systems, including door access and cameras.


Disaster recovery and monitoring

  • Implement and validate backups for cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Support cloud-to-cloud SaaS backup solutions for Microsoft 365 and Salesforce.
  • Participate in business continuity exercises and maintain recovery documentation.
  • Use observability tools and external monitors to identify issues early and support automated remediation where possible.


Documentation and asset management

  • Maintain clear technical documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and knowledge base articles.
  • Track hardware and software inventory throughout the lifecycle.


Communication and collaboration

  • Support reliable communication platforms such as Microsoft Teams, RingCentral, and Zoom.
  • Collaborate with Support, DevOps, Security, Engineering, Product, and Data teams to align IT services with business needs.


Operational Excellence & Efficiency

  • Oversee daily pod operations and manage the flow of claims to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows, reduce bottlenecks, and increase efficiency.
  • Maintain quality standards and service level expectations.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential operational disruptions.


Budget Management & Financial Oversight

  • Monitor operational budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Assist with budget forecasting, expense tracking, and financial planning.
  • Optimize resource allocation to maximize productivity and control costs.


Performance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track daily, monthly, and ad hoc KPIs to identify trends and measure performance.
  • Prepare and present production reports to senior leadership.
  • Support performance reviews by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.


Staff Management & Development

  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members to improve performance and support professional growth.
  • Partner with managers to recruit, onboard, and develop new hires.
  • Address performance concerns and support corrective action planning.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and productive team environment.


Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Protect sensitive information and maintain data security.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks that could affect pod performance.


Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with managers, senior operations leaders, and cross-functional teams to support shared goals.
  • Build positive relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Strong hands-on experience in multi-site environments.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Experience with AWS and Azure.
  • Familiarity with VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Strong networking knowledge, including Wi-Fi, VPN, routing, switching, and firewall administration.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes in an operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of security tools, backup systems, and compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.


Preferred qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+, AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS DevOps Engineer, MCSA, CISSP, or CKA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.


Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in system administration, hybrid cloud management, or IT operations.


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or Certified Manager (CM) are a plus.
