Job description

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an experienced Substation Senior Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of substation projects. Our portfolio of work spans transmission, distribution, and collector substations and switchyards. The work is primarily AIS, but we also perform GIS in both greenfield and brownfield environments.

What you'll do:

  • The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, substation technical expertise, and project management skills, ensuring compliance with contract documents, quality specifications, and project timelines.
  • Champion a strong safety culture on assigned projects through proactive leadership and vigilance in identifying and addressing potential safety issues.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and training to direct reports. Host regular performance conversations to set goals, provide feedback, and support the development of direct reports.
  • Using Aldridge's standard processes and guidelines, manage all facets of assigned projects or assigned project scopes including safety, planning, scheduling, financials, and project execution.
  • Monitor project health using Aldridge's project management tools. Enact change when required.
  • Manage projects in accordance with Aldridge's contract with the customer.
  • Identify and document the roles and responsibilities of the management team on assigned projects. Verify team members are focused on the correct tasks while executing your vision of the project.
  • Own the financial tracking and reporting of assigned projects or assigned project scopes.
  • Develop and monitor a cash flow plan to ensure a positive cash position on all projects.
  • Proactively manage subcontractors and vendors, including safety, work planning, scheduling, and payments.
  • Act as a point of contact for communication with the customer on the project. Timely address customer concerns while protecting Aldridge.
  • Ensure there is a plan to meet all contractual requirements for assigned projects.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships and promote effective teamwork amongst Aldridge and our partners.
  • Regularly visit the project site to aid in planning, progress monitoring, and internal/external relationship development.
  • Maintain accurate, current, and complete records for all assigned projects.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management or equivalent construction/union trade background
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • Proficient in estimating, scheduling, budgeting costs, field supervision, financial reporting and client relationships
  • Ability to manage large scale projects or multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace .
  • Effective leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Excels at time management and prioritization, consistently meeting deadlines
  • Adaptable and willing to embrace new challenges
  • Ability to travel to job sites
  • Based in either Des Plaines, IL or Lake Forest, IL office locations.

What we offer:

The annual base pay for this role is between 130,000 - 190,000. The actual pay is dependent upon many factors, including: location, work experience, education, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market conditions.
