What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Solutions Architect in Enterprise Solution Design, you will join CIBC's Technology department responsible for the delivery of technology in support of all CIBC businesses and customers. Directly aligns to CIBC's businesses, with a technology team for each business. Delivers world class solutions in support of business strategies, through a combination of in-house systems development and working with leading technology partners. This group also manages CIBC's core computing facilities, telecommunications, and networks globally.

Technology Operations is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Technology organization, focusing on an integrated approach to operations, service delivery, planning and the processes supporting CIBC. TO is also responsible for enterprise services such as email, Telecom, Disaster Recovery, Network Servers, Availability, Change Management, and partnership with providers. In conjunction with other members of the Solution Design team, the purpose of this position is to work with key Business & Technology Partners to deliver infrastructure design and implementation for Technology Operations (TO) and Application Development (AD) projects. These designs include platform selection and sizing, data management design, Disaster Recovery solutions, high availability design, migration approach and other Infrastructure requirements. Additionally, the job entails working in partnership with various architecture groups, Platform Managers, Information Security and Risk management, and Engineering teams to design Infrastructure solutions that meet CIBC standards.

During project implementations, the Solutions Architect will work alongside the Project Manager to support design issues. This will include assisting in the integration of distinct products to form the infrastructure in which an application will be installed on. To be successful, the Solutions Architect will serve as a focal point for escalations on major technical issues within the Engineering teams, Global Command Centre, Solution Centre, Application & Infrastructure Support, Product and Service Vendors, and Application Development.


Finally, this position also includes the review and creation of proposals in support of business requirements as well as providing infrastructure cost and design estimates and consultation as it relates to application integration.

You will help guide the Solution Delivery Team in the implementation of the infrastructure solution design and in conjunction with other Solution Design team members, you will work with key business and Technology partners to deliver infrastructure design and implementation for Technology Operations (TO) and Application Development (AD) projects.

  • You can demonstrate experience in all areas of infrastructure, with a minimum of five years of related experience and a University degree, including: Cloud, Windows, UNIX - Solaris, RedHat Linux, Database, Systems Management, Security, Network, Hardware, Storage, System utilities, application platforms such as J2EE and.net, BI products such as Cognos, SAS, and Informatica.
