Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

 

The Senior Technology Project Leader plans and drives execution of technology and product development projects that deliver value-aligned solutions from concept through manufacturing readiness. The role partners closely with Technology, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget using clear, concise, and effective communication.

Senior Technology Project Leaders lead cross-functional project teams, proactively manage risks and issues, and support sound decision-making to enable successful execution while balancing technical requirements, business needs, and resource constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and lead execution of assigned technology projects to achieve scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and key milestones using effective planning and estimating techniques.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation plans to maintain delivery commitments.
  • Manage project scope and change control in alignment with project goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions.
  • Facilitate team collaboration, decision-making, and issue resolution while proactively addressing resource needs and project gaps.
  • Build a strong understanding of product and process technical designs to identify risks, gaps, and alignment with customer and market needs.
  • Partner with technical team members to evaluate tradeoffs, support informed decisions, and align project execution with scalable, cost-effective manufacturing solutions.
  • Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and escalation needs clearly to stakeholders, tailoring messaging to different audiences and supporting customer, vendor, or external partner engagement as needed.
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with organizational standards, apply established project management methods and tools, and contribute to continuous improvement and lessons learned activities.

Travel Requirements:

  • Able to travel domestically and internationally based on project needs- up to 25% max

 

Education and Experience- Required:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, technology development, and/or technical project leadership roles
  • Project Management experience

Desired Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of passive telecommunication and data center product design, application, testing and/or industry standards
  • Experience in manufacturing processes related to passive optical products: Automated and manual assembly; Injection molding; Sheet metal fabrication; Optical fiber termination
  • Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)
  • Advanced degree (MS or MBA)

The range for this position is $132,589.00 - $182,310.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
