Role Summary

Technical Delivery Managers (TDMs) are responsible for two of our most important company objectives: (1) ensuring our customers achieve remarkable business results through technology engagements and (2) driving customer growth through technology expertise, trusted advice, relationships and demonstrated results. TDMs manage and deliver innovative solutions built on the Appian platform for our customers, overseeing all aspects of agile delivery for Appian‑led engagements, including risk management and impediment removal. They also work closely with front‑line sales reps to drive growth in strategic accounts and integrated deals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project, account and relationship management across strategic accounts
  • Financial management and opportunity qualification
  • Problem identification, project/use‑case definition and demand generation
  • Services positioning, account strategy and partnership with Appian Sales, Partners and Customer Success teams
  • Lead agile delivery teams and manage enterprise‑scale technology programs
  • Collaborate with architects and product designers to design and deliver compelling solutions
  • Position technology to meet customers’ strategic goals and build business cases for investment
  • Use value‑selling methods to create compelling business benefits for proposals and delivery
  • Maintain strategic stakeholder relationships (buyers, influencers, partners)
  • Operate in a dynamic, ambiguous environment with a bias for action and strong communication skills
Qualifications
  • Experience managing a book of business using financial management tools and metrics
  • Leading agile delivery teams and managing enterprise‑scale technology programs, including collaboration with architects and product designers
  • Deep understanding of customers’ strategic goals and the ability to position technology to meet them
  • Proficiency in value selling and creating compelling business benefits for proposals and delivery
  • Ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders, buyers and influencers
  • Intellectual curiosity, bias for action, ability to thrive in ambiguity, and excellent communication skills
  • Software consulting experience (ideally in ERP, CRM, BPM/Workflow, Data Integration Architecture or EAI) and/or applied knowledge of enterprise architecture, including data management (preferred)
Basic Requirements
  • Proven background in supporting FedCiv contracts
  • 5+ years in an agile delivery environment with at least 1 year leading a team
  • B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or related field
  • Willingness to travel 20% or less annually for customer engagement
Location & Travel

The role is based at our headquarters in McLean, VA. Employees are expected to work in the office 4–5 days per week to foster collaboration and teamwork.

Compensation

Base salary range: $125,000—$250,000 USD. The position may also qualify for a government clearance differential and discretionary bonus. Compensation depends on experience, qualifications and market conditions.
