Senior Teamcenter Developer information

What is a senior Teamcenter developer?

A Senior Teamcenter Developer is a highly experienced software engineer who specializes in Siemens Teamcenter, a leading Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform. They are responsible for designing, developing, customizing, and maintaining Teamcenter solutions to support an organization's engineering and manufacturing processes. Senior Teamcenter Developers often lead technical teams, provide guidance on best practices, and ensure system integration with other enterprise applications. Their deep understanding of Teamcenter architecture and modules helps businesses optimize their product development workflows.

What key skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a senior Teamcenter developer?

To thrive as a Senior Teamcenter Developer, you need expertise in Siemens Teamcenter PLM software, strong programming skills (such as Java, C++, or ITK), and a relevant degree in computer science or engineering. Familiarity with technical tools like Teamcenter modules, customizations, integrations, and certifications such as Siemens Teamcenter Certified Professional are highly valued. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management abilities help you collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver tailored solutions. These skills ensure efficient PLM implementations, seamless system integrations, and optimal support for business processes.

What are some common challenges faced by senior Teamcenter developers when integrating Teamcenter with other enterprise systems?

Senior Teamcenter Developers often encounter challenges when integrating Teamcenter with other enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, or CAD platforms. These challenges include managing data consistency across platforms, handling complex business logic, and ensuring seamless data flow without disrupting existing workflows. Additionally, developers must adapt to evolving integration standards and troubleshoot compatibility issues, all while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams like IT, engineering, and business analysts to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions.

What is the difference between Senior Teamcenter Developer vs Teamcenter Configuration Manager?

AspectSenior Teamcenter DeveloperTeamcenter Configuration Manager
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Engineering or Computer Science, certifications in PLM or TeamcenterSimilar certifications, with additional focus on configuration management
Work EnvironmentSoftware development, customization, and integration within PLM systemsManaging system configurations, workflows, and deployment processes
Employer & Industry UsageManufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and engineering firms using TeamcenterOrganizations implementing complex PLM configurations and change management

The Senior Teamcenter Developer primarily focuses on developing and customizing Teamcenter applications, while the Teamcenter Configuration Manager handles system configurations and change management. Both roles require similar technical skills but differ in their core responsibilities within the PLM environment.

With more than 4,500 ASMers representing 70 nationalities, our people and our advanced semiconductor devices are playing a crucial role in trends such as 5G, cloud computing, AI, and autonomous driving. But we're more than just a tech company. We value diversity, inclusion and sustainability as we strive to make a positive impact on the world. Our development programs help support your growth, shaping your future and pushing the boundaries of innovation to unleash potential.
Job's mission
As a Senior Engineer II, Mechanical Engineering at ASM, you will play a pivotal role in design and development of high-precision ALD chamber and semiconductor equipment systems. In this role, you will apply solid mechanical engineering fundamentals to solve complex design challenges, support new product development, and ensure reliable transition from design to manufacturing. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help drive product quality, performance, and innovation.
What you will be working on
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components for advanced node Atomic Layer Deposition equipment.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, fundamentals of physics, and product-focused mindset to meet customer needs.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics to support robust and reliable designs.
  • Create and maintain Creo Parametric 3D CAD models and complex assemblies.
  • Generate 2D drawings, applying GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5 and/or ISO 1101) for use in a global supply chain.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of product proposals, resolve technical issues, and develop new designs in compliance with product safety and customer need
  • Prepare complete engineering documentation to support prototype to HVM transition
  • Support engineering project activities, including design characterization, schedule planning, design reviews, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Establish and maintain product structures and configurations
  • Participate in and present at design reviews for new designs, product enhancements, and customer-specific solutions.
  • Support hardware development, installation, and testing to verify performance; create, review, and approve test plans and test procedures.
  • Interface with manufacturing, suppliers, and other engineering teams to ensure smooth product transfer into the manufacturing cycle.
  • Review and process engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and support continuous product and process improvements through Teamcenter PLM
  • Travel to customer or supplier sites as needed to support technical discussions and project execution.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety in all activities.

What we are looking for
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related disciplines.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and development of complex systems within semiconductor or capital equipment industries.
  • Practical experience with mechanical systems such as vacuum chambers, reactors, susceptor heaters, gas delivery systems, pneumatics, cooling circuits.
  • Ability to perform simulation and engineering analysis (e.g., structural, thermal, fluid dynamics) to support robust and reliable designs.
  • Proficiency in Creo (or equivalent CAD tools) and ability to create detailed engineering drawings
  • Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical design fundamentals for use in vacuum and ultra clean processes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.

What sets you apart
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related degree.
  • Experience with thermal and plasma-based deposition equipment (ALD, PEALD, CVD)
  • Systems level design and characterization, bridging component design to over-all system and on-wafer performance.
  • Strong capability to run and interpret multiphysics simulations (structural, thermal, CFD) and apply the results to improve design specifications.
  • Extremely large CAD assembly management
  • Strong dFX and DFMEA experience
  • Experience designing core reactor hardware (susceptors, showerheads, RF delivery, etc)
  • Experience supporting products through the full lifecycle, from concept and design to manufacturing release.
  • Ability to independently manage technical tasks while contributing effectively as a team player.
