Senior Tableau Developer information

What is a senior Tableau developer?

Senior Tableau Developers are experienced professionals who design, develop, and manage advanced data visualization solutions using Tableau software. They work closely with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and create interactive dashboards and reports that help drive strategic decisions. In addition to creating visualizations, they often mentor junior developers, optimize data models, and ensure data accuracy and security. Senior Tableau Developers also play a key role in troubleshooting technical issues and implementing best practices for data analytics within an organization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior Tableau developer?

To thrive as a Senior Tableau Developer, you need advanced expertise in data visualization, analytics, and SQL, typically supported by a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Proficiency with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and experience integrating with databases or BI tools are essential, with Tableau certification often preferred. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills help you translate complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders. These skills are crucial for delivering impactful dashboards and driving data-informed decision-making across organizations.

What are some common challenges faced by senior Tableau developers when managing large-scale data visualizations, and how can they be addressed?

Senior Tableau Developers often encounter challenges with performance optimization and data accuracy when working on large-scale data visualizations. Managing complex datasets can lead to slow dashboard load times and difficulties in ensuring that visualizations remain accurate as data sources update. To address these challenges, developers typically leverage techniques such as data extract optimization, efficient use of calculated fields, and implementing filters strategically. Collaborating closely with data engineers and business analysts also helps ensure that data models align with end-user needs and organizational goals.

Job description

ABOUT US

Localcoin, founded in 2017 with headquarters in Toronto, is on a mission to simplify the process and experience of buying or selling digital currencies globally. We envision bringing digital currency to the mainstream financial market through partnerships with leading corporate and franchised retail spaces. With terminals across Canada, Poland and the APAC region, including Australia, Hong Kong, and New Zealand, Localcoin is now the fastest growing Bitcoin ATM operator in the world.

At its core, Localcoin believes that everyone should be able to own cryptocurrency and have a deep understanding of blockchain technology. As a member of our rapidly growing team, you'll join a talented, dynamic group of team members who will encourage you to learn, grow, and thrive in your career every step of the way.

If you're a self-starter looking to hone your skills in a scale up environment that fosters innovation, transparency, and team connectivity, we look forward to hearing from you!

THE ROLE

Salary: $115,000 - $130,000

We're hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead our integrations and platform product initiatives while helping shape the next generation of products for our business.

This role is ideal for a technically fluent product manager who enjoys working closely with Engineering, understands complex product ecosystems, and can translate strategic direction into clear product execution. Initially, you will focus on managing the product roadmap for our integrations team. As you become more familiar with the business, customers, and technical architecture, you will also support new product initiatives aligned with our company strategy.

You will not be solely responsible for inventing new product ideas from scratch. However, once promising opportunities are identified, you will help evaluate them, define MVP scope, estimate product and engineering tradeoffs, and drive execution from concept through prototype and launch.

This is an ideal opportunity for a Product Manager who enjoys working in a highly technical environment and is eager to expand their impact into broader product leadership over time. The role is hybrid, with in-office collaboration at our Etobicoke office every Wednesday and Friday.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Own the product roadmap for our Integrations team, balancing customer needs, business priorities, technical constraints, and delivery timelines.
  • Partner closely with Engineering to define requirements, prioritize work, resolve tradeoffs, and ship high-quality integrations.
  • Develop a strong understanding of our technical architecture, crypto-related product surface area, customers, partners, and market dynamics.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, clarify priorities, and ensure alignment across teams.
  • Translate ambiguous product needs into clear problem statements, product requirements, MVP definitions, and execution plans.
  • Support new product initiatives once opportunities have been identified by helping evaluate feasibility, expected impact, build costs, risks, and success criteria.
  • Advise leadership with clear product recommendations, including tradeoffs, assumptions, risks, and implementation paths.
  • Lead approved new product initiatives from concept through prototype, working closely with Engineering and other stakeholders to deliver a working product within expected timelines.
  • Define success metrics for integrations and new product initiatives, and use data, customer feedback, and market insights to guide product decisions.
  • Help ensure new products are not only built, but also positioned for successful adoption, iteration, and long-term impact.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years of experience as a Senior Product Manager, with 5–6+ years of overall product management experience preferred.
  • Strong product management experience in a technical environment, ideally focused on platforms, integrations, infrastructure, fintech, cryptocurrency, or developer tools.
  • Strong understanding of cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital asset transaction flows.
  • Experience working with compliance and regulatory requirements, including KYC, AML, and MSB regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to own a product area end-to-end, from discovery and prioritization through execution and launch.
  • Comfortable working closely with Engineering on technically complex products, including APIs, integrations, system architecture, partner dependencies, and infrastructure-related tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated success balancing product strategy, roadmap planning, and execution.
  • Proficiency with SQL and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align cross-functional teams and clearly articulate product decisions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where adaptability, ownership, and initiative are essential.
  • A bias toward ownership, clarity, and execution in ambiguous environments.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Prior experience with crypto, blockchain, digital assets, DeFi, wallets, exchanges, custody, payments, or related technologies.
  • Prior experience managing integrations with external partners, APIs, protocols, platforms, or technical vendors.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Experience launching 0-to-1 products or new product lines.
  • Experience working with executive teams on product strategy, opportunity evaluation, or investment decisions.
  • Technical background or prior experience working on deeply technical products.

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT US

  • Competitive Salary & Benefits – We value and reward our team members.
  • RRSP Group Matching Program – We invest in your financial well-being.
  • Hybrid Work Environment – Enjoy flexibility while being part of a dynamic team.
  • Professional Development – Opportunities for learning and growth covered by Localcoin.
