Job description

About Solaris Energy Infrastructure

Solaris Energy Infrastructure, Inc. (NYSE:SEI) provides scalable equipment-based solutions for use in distributed power generation as well as the management of raw materials used in the completion of oil and natural gas wells. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Solaris serves multiple U.S. end markets, including energy, data centers, and other commercial and industrial sectors.

About the Opportunity

The Senior Systems Engineer provides hands-on technical support to end-users, including the Executive Team, while owning the corporate infrastructure stack. The ideal candidate pairs deep engineering expertise with a service-first mindset: equally at ease closing a support ticket and architecting a system improvement. No task is beneath them; no challenge is too complex.

Essential Functions

End-User & Desktop Support

  • Deliver first-class technical support to all end-users (hardware, software, M365, connectivity, peripherals) with same-day resolution as the standard.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point; maintain a high first-contact resolution rate and contribute to the IT knowledgebase.
  • Own onboarding/offboarding execution — account provisioning, device setup (Windows and Apple macOS), and hardware recovery.
  • Manage printers, MFPs, monitors, docking stations, and peripherals.

Microsoft 365 & Cloud Productivity

  • Administer the full M365 tenant: Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Defender, and Purview.
  • Manage licensing, conditional access, MFA, data governance, Teams governance, and external federation.

Apple macOS & Endpoint Management

  • Support Apple macOS end-users: troubleshooting, OS updates, software installation, and hardware issues.
  • Integrate macOS with M365 and corporate security tooling (Sophos EDR, patch compliance) using available native controls.
  • Own the full Windows device lifecycle: imaging, Autopilot/zero-touch provisioning, and hardware refresh; manage macOS device setup and onboarding manually.

On-Premises Infrastructure

  • Administer Windows Server environments: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file services.
  • Manage the Nutanix HCI platform — cluster health, high availability, and resource optimization.
  • Administer the Cisco Meraki environment (MX, MS, MR, SD-WAN) via Dashboard; maintain patching cadence and change control.

Backup, DR & Cybersecurity

  • Manage enterprise backup platforms with documented recovery procedures aligned to defined RTO/RPO targets; conduct regular DR testing.
  • Administer Sophos EDR/XDR — endpoint detection, response, and threat monitoring.
  • Manage email security, patch compliance, identity controls, and vulnerability management.
  • Support SOX IT controls, access reviews, and audit evidence gathering; maintain the IT risk register.

AV & Microsoft Teams Rooms

  • Administer and proactively monitor Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) across all collaboration spaces.
  • Manage Logitech hardware (Rally Bar, Tap, Scribe) — firmware, policy, and peripheral health via Teams Pro Management portal.
  • Develop standardized room configurations and runbooks for new site deployments.

Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct periodic technology stack reviews and deliver written recommendations with business case justification.
  • Proactively identify and remediate technical debt; partner with the SVP of IT to maintain a forward-looking infrastructure roadmap.

Experience/Education

Required

  • 5+ years of progressive systems/infrastructure engineering experience in a corporate IT environment.
  • Expert-level M365 administration: Entra ID, Exchange, Intune, Teams, SharePoint, Defender, Purview.
  • Windows Server administration: AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, file services.
  • Apple macOS supports experience: troubleshooting, OS/software management, and integration with M365 and Active Directory/Entra ID.
  • Nutanix HCI platform administration.
  • Cisco Meraki administration: Dashboard, MX, MS, MR, SD-WAN.
  • Microsoft Teams Rooms with Logitech hardware (Rally Bar series, Tap, Scribe).
  • Sophos EDR/XDR administration.
  • Enterprise backup/recovery platforms including DR testing and documentation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility at all organizational levels.

Preferred

  • Microsoft certifications: MS-102, AZ-104, or equivalent; Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) a plus.
  • Cisco Meraki CMNA or higher; Sophos Certified Engineer or equivalent.
  • SOX IT controls experience; ITIL familiarity; SolarWinds Service Desk or similar ITSM.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Exceptional communicator – direct and transparent, skilled problem-solver with proven success in building coalitions and avoiding conflicts
  • Total ownership mentality – proactively identifies and removes obstacles across numerous ongoing tasks
  • Independent thinker – provides original thoughts and constantly asking “how can we do this better”
  • Innovative thinker – willingness to consider novel solutions and ability to adapt to change
  • Desirable teammate – impeccable character, humility, and collaborative
  • Relentless – aspires to contribute and achieve his/her full potential
