Job description

Wilson & Company is seeking a full-time senior bridge (structures) engineer to support our bridge team in our South Jordan Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural design projects and performing complex planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who enjoys being part of a team performing office and fieldwork.

Role and responsibilities:

Regular job duties include design and detailing railroad and highway structures, including reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel, earth retaining systems, and drainage structures. The candidate must perform complex engineering tasks accurately, extract engineering information from CAD drawings, and complete a variety of assignments such as developing and reviewing drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

In addition to the tasks listed, the candidate will be expected to lead the structural design of projects and mentor entry-level staff in the design and production of construction drawings. Communication is key for this position. The candidate will need to communicate effectively to direct entry-level staff and provide reports and updates to senior-level staff and clients collaborating with other offices and Structure Bridge groups. The candidate will need to work in a team environment with engineers from a multitude of disciplines and locations. They would be willing and available to meet with clients and pursue work.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's degree is a plus) from an ABET accredited school.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural engineering design including bridge, retaining wall and other transportation structures
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience in plan development, analysis and design calculations, quality control of highway structures and/or railroad structures, and familiarity with AASHTO and/or AREMA.
  • Experience in using software like Leap Bridge Concrete, MDX, MIDAS, Risa, Lpile, Mathcad and other related engineering software to design structural elements of bridges.

Job Location: South Jordan, Utah

Annual Salary Range or Hourly Rate: 120,000 - 160,000+ (Depending on Experience)
