Job description

Bloom is currently seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer (PE) with 5-10 years of experience to join our growing team. This position requires someone who is a team player who can assist with the pursuit process, communicate effectively, and work well with clients. The successful candidate will lead the structural design of commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential building projects while working closely with architects, contractors, project managers, and clients.

  • Leading complete structural design across wood, steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and shallow foundations.
  • Performing calculations, structural analysis, and drafting full construction documents, specifications, and design reports.
  • Reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and providing support during construction.
  • Conducting site visits, structural inspections, condition assessments, and developing retrofit/repair solutions.
  • Coordinating designs with architectural, civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
  • Reviewing engineering work prepared by junior staff and participating in Bloom's mentor/mentee culture.
  • Interacting with clients, contractors, and leadership to deliver quality projects on schedule and within budget.
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis); Masterโ€™s preferred.
  • PE License required (SE license or interest is a plus).
  • 5-10+ years of building structural engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, NDS, TMS).
  • Proficiency with industry software (RISA-3D, RAM, Enercalc, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Excel).
  • Excellent decision-making, communication skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
