Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc is a full-service engineering consulting and design firm serving a broad range of the industrial markets. Our combined staff of more than 1,700 engineers and design professionals have expertise that spans all major engineering disciplines to serve the industrial, transportation, power, water/wastewater, mining, building, and oil, gas & chemical markets. Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.
Location
These positions can either be based out of our Kansas City Kansas, Lone Tree, Colorado, or Minneapolis Minnesota offices.
Responsibilities
• Lead structural design efforts for moderate to large industrial projects, including research, system selection, detailed analysis, and preparation of engineering drawings. Serve as the structural Lead on one or more projects as assigned.
• Apply and uphold department and industry standards while overseeing the development of structural calculations, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Mentor and guide entry- and mid-level engineers and designers, providing technical direction, coaching, and performance feedback to support their professional growth.
• Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) to develop plans, models, drawings, and detailed structural documentation that support coordination and constructability.
• Integrate EPC and contractual requirements-including customer RFPs, professional service agreements, and project-specific obligations-into the structural design approach to ensure alignment with project goals.
• Coordinate closely with internal and external partners, including cross-discipline engineering teams, construction personnel, vendors, fabricators, and owners to resolve structural issues and maintain alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify and recommend improvements to standards, workflows, and processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency across the department.
• Develop, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets, including staffing forecasts, and provide regular updates to project and department management. Support estimating, scheduling, and project controls with structural input as needed.
• Support department leadership in establishing and achieving performance goals, contributing to continuous improvement and long-term departmental success.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering in structural, civil or architectural engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program. Some masters' coursework preferred.
• Current Professional Engineer License (PE) is required
• At least 15 years' experience in structural engineering and design in both concrete and steel. At least 3 three years working in industrial, manufacturing, water/wastewater or building markets for both greenfield and brownfield projects. EPC and/or design/build experience is preferred.
Experience with modular structural design highly desired.
• 3+ years leading/mentoring a team of 3-20 engineers/designers and leading a large project or 2-6 smaller projects, where you are managing scope, schedule and manhour utilization. Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines both verbally and written form.
• Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations
• Knowledgeable and experience in engineering software: CSi SAP2000 and SAFE, RISA Suite required.
• Knowledge and experience with BIM software: (Revit preferred), AutoCAD, and Navisworks. 3D modeling experience required
• Must be able to represent Kiewit Industrial Engineering in a professional manner to owners, contractors, vendors, and any other contacts outside Kiewit organization

Base Compensation: $138,000/yr - $172,000
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
