Job description

Seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer with aerospace engineering experience for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Wichita, KS.

This position offers full benefits including PTO, Medical, Dental and 401k! 

Salary: $96,000 - $113,000 per year (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate design and build issues and develop structural engineering and instrumentation installation solutions.
  • Develop temporary engineering solutions to resolve build and manufacturing issues in a timely manner.
  • Review and disposition aircraft non-conformances, including developing rework instructions and supporting Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Perform aircraft and engineering drawing investigations and coordinate with affected engineering disciplines, Quality Assurance, and manufacturing representatives.
  • Design and support Flight Test engineering change requests and coordinate activities with work package owners.
  • Develop engineering documentation defining structural special instructions, limitations, and restrictions.
  • Design and release structural and systems installations for special mission and aircraft modification projects.
  • Support manufacturing operations and aircraft modification activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure engineering solutions meet technical, quality, and operational requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering team members as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant aerospace or aircraft engineering experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) in accordance with applicable U.S. export control and ITAR requirements.
  • Experience supporting special mission aircraft or aftermarket aircraft modifications.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations and aircraft modification projects.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring a team of engineers.
  • Minimum of 20,000 hours of CATIA V5 experience.
  • Strong proficiency in CATIA V5, including:
    • Assembly Design
    • Part Design and Boolean Operations
    • Aerospace Sheetmetal
    • Tubing Design
    • Kinematics
    • Electrical Harness Routing
  • Experience with Siemens NX is preferred.
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM is preferred.
  • Aircraft manufacturing or related aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, and capable of working independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
